CanJam 2009 Impressions, Pics, Parties, etc...
I saw someone break an HD800 in the HeadRoom room. He tangled his feet in the cable and yanked it from the table, popping off one of the ear cups. Interestingly, it was one of the pre-production models and Tyll said the retaining pin that had failed was the main component that was redesigned for the current batch. I offered to stomp on one of his new ones to see how well they did, but he wasn't up for it.

Macbook Pro won't wake up
Just be very polite at the Genius Bar. It's not like this is an unknown issue and there's probably a pretty decent chance they'll take care of you out of warranty.

It's actually pretty impressive that he manages to be as big a cunt in corporeal person as in corporate person.

Post the last thing you bought!
Old favorite. Wang Chung soundtrack and all.

OPPO BDP-83
OK, we've come full circle, but Vizio also made a very decent plasma up until recently, when they started getting out of that (sadly) shrinking segment. I've seen the last of the VP505XVTs going new from ebay sellers for less than $1,000 -- which is pretty sweet for a 50-inch set. At list price, though, I'd definitely buy the Panny above.

^^^ They just don't do album covers like that any more, sadly. Or like this, happily. Queen -- Sheer Heart Attack

Audio-Tekne SP-9301S. Price "TBD" but the Ale midranges alone cost $65,000 as parts. From Jonathan Valin's blog about Japanese audio, which I've found pretty interesting.

HD800? Another rumor?
It appears that Les_Garten Is still rather smartin', From the shovel to the ear That he earned over here.

Sony XA-5400ES
Well, hopefully the circuit diagram will settle the issue one way or the other. I'd be interested to hear more about the upcoming $3K player, particularly (as usual) whether it may have digital inputs.

HD800? Another rumor?
Yeah, wow, 900 bucks! Another $500 and he could have bought a decent headphone.

HD800? Another rumor?
On the contrary, I think this is very clear-minded dishonesty, which makes it even worse. I mean, can anyone truly believe his real first impression of the 800s is that they're "sloooooooow"? In politics you're often told to attack the strengths, not the weaknesses. It doesn't matter how ludicrous the accusation, a seed of doubt will take root with at least some listeners/readers.

Sony XA-5400ES
I fucking hated that thing. Know you think something else was wrong, but it sounded like asssssssssss through the same Ultra DACs that sounded great with the Krell and whatever that other transport was on the balanced HR rigs.

Ultraviolet. Mine's also flat, which improves three-dimensionality and tonal realism. Says so right on the box.

Judge for yourself. Sparklehorse -- Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot- Grado HF-2 thread
Comfy pads? Got a link to a description or source, please? In between would be about where I'd want to be. EDIT: Nevermind. Found 'em.- Grado HF-2 thread
I'm having some cognitive dissonance. Right now with flats, I find the HF-2's bass a little too thick -- and with bowls the presentation is too remote for me. At this point, I'd still pick the HF-1s for my Grado fix. We'll see if things change with use and familiarization.- CanJam 2009 Impressions, Pics, Parties, etc...

I tried, but knew it would turn ugly. Oh cables, how long must your dielectrics divide us? How onerous the shiny coils which weight our discourse!- Deals

Cock wart. OK, I'm bored and trawled around a bit. Here's what Gordon Rankin has to say about testing different USB cables and why their physical design might make a difference. Please note I'm not advocating for this position, so kindly don't throw feces at me. He seems to have changed his mind about ferrites after actually testing them, though, as I found this from a year later.- Best sounding USB cable for under $60
Think it was Gordon Rankin. He says they can cause protocol errors. - What are you listening to Part Two
