  1. holy crap, these Stax O2's are like a breath of fresh air when listening to music they really just get tha fuk out tha way and let me hear what the fuk is goin on. I totally think I could live with 717 for a while... even if it's the o2's budget amp the rig is quite frankly not budget,, in fact, easily above any dynamic or iso headphone I've heard, so I guess what I'm saying is that I don't feel the need at all for R10's and Qualia's, L3000's and the like
  2. I'd like to set up a vinyl rig for $1000 before shipping. Only catch is it would need to be serviceable, so if bought used, have the manufacture support repairs. it doesn't need to be under warranty though or anything. another consideration... it would be nice if the table had a lot of youtube videos about it: people fixing/tweaking it etc

  4. 1.6 compared to 1.7 by a guy on AA Planar Speaker Asylum - review MG1.7 vs MG1.6 - drkielbasa - January 26, 2010 at 14:05:51 Does anyone know what the sensitivity for these is?
  5. really... what is the total parts cost?
  6. how about this version? Amazon.com: Daniel Barenboim/Staatskapelle Berlin: Beethoven - Piano Concertos 1-5 [blu-ray]: Beethoven, Skb, Barenboim: Movies & TV EDIT: actually I think that even though that is a Blu-Ray disc the audio maxes out at 16/48, because that is the max rez on the pirated versions available
  7. I do too occasionally. People seem to really like the Ultimae recordings but I haven't been able to really get into them. Ishq/Matt Hillier is really good ambient imo. Also bordering on ambient and downtempo, Evan Marc + Steve Hillage - Dreamtime Submersible is nice.
  8. I've found the first 46 cds of the Heifetz Collection on what.cd and it's seeded except for 3-4 of the albums, which would maybe take some patience to get, but there are 10-20 snatches on each cd so the copies are out there. The complete Karajan Gold collection is on what.cd and waffle.fm Also there are about 25 cds of the Heifetz collection on Demonoid, there's a gap from 6-10 but it otherwise goes all the way to 32 and looks like is being added to regularly the above mentioned are FLAC, other than that it's also prbly worth mentioning that the complete Heifetz collection is available on Demonoid but in mp3 192CBR.
  9. we should create a userclass where the admin/mods have to approve a post before it can go through, this could save a lot of hassle... I'll be the first to volunteer
  10. Seriously, it says "60'C Water Resistant Outdoor" on it haha I think the person who sold the SFD2 might have switched it with some kind of bbq or grill power cord. lame.
  11. I take back what I said about NoNoNoNoNoNo. I've recently been talking to him and he's told me more about his situation- he's a nice guy and the stigma surrounding him is pretty tricky. He may not have gone out of his way for people in some ways that people in a community do (keeping gear within the community), but he has gone out of his way for people in other ways. (making DIY amps for people and selling at cost) And although he's maybe made some mistakes, no one is perfect, and I feel like a douche for saying what I did. I paid $500 shipped, so a little high if it was a 2.6 I guess. Impressions to come in a day or two. Turns out I don't need to buy a power cable for the Assemblage as I found my old Sonic Frontiers SFD2 mk2 power cable, although I think it might give one of the units an unfair advantage because the power cable that ships with a $6000 DAC has got to be pretty good quality.
  12. I think you're right. Also found some good info on this site: Jeff Chan's Audio Page -- Digital Audio The 2.7 was the first to have PMD200, the 2.6, 2.5, 2, and 1.5 all had PMD100. I didn't even know Assemblage had made that many different versions... strange that some of the older versions don't come up for sale more often. Check, will not pull a NoNoNoNoNoNo.
  13. I see a PMD200 and PCM 1704, I believe that it does mean it's capable of 24/96. I'm thinking this also means that it's a 2.7 but I forget what the 2.6 has.
  14. Why does the Assemblage dac I just bought say 2.7 on the front faceplate and 2.6 on the back ? Which is it? 2.6 or 2.7 ? I'll use this thread to post impressions later as well ...as soon as I can get a couple power cords from monoprice.
  15. haha, I have been meaning to do it for a while, I'll prbly have some up later tonight/tomorrow
  16. Were you using your JH13's or speakers? For speakers I can't see just an inegrated amp etc doing the job. I use studio monitors in a treated room. (built specifically with no parallel walls, auralex foam everywhere) But I'm sure your JH13's are up to the task... so try using them if you aren't already. If you still can't notice a difference listen maybe try listening to new songs that you aren't familiar with. When I do this I find I am more willing to listen for longer before labeling and defining what I'm hearing. I'm getting even more curious now to compare the Assemblage 2.6 and the Parasound 1100...
  17. It's weird that the picture on that site doesn't seem to show I2s input The I2s ability (well, the chip too) are mainly what this DAC has going for me, BUT I've decided to take a different route to transmitting clock data and signal data simultaneously. I am going to use the wordclock output from this piece of kit: (which integrates nicely with my DAW - Pro Tools) http://www.auvisa.com/media/fotos/pro_2851_1.jpg I'm going to use the wordclock output to feed the Logitech Transporter, which may not be the epitome of a DAC, but it will work nicely for my uses. Apologies for jumping off the hype bandwagon so early in the running.
  18. I'm looking into a NAD 325BEE, and I'd like to know if it can output enough power to my speakers. My speakers are some vintage AKAI's with 8 ohm impedence and 100Wpeak. I see here: NAD Electronics :: C325BEE Stereo Integrated Amplifier that the NAD 325BEE is rated for 110W power, but only 50W continuously? What does this mean?
