  1. TP is all sold out of Buffalo kits thought right? Is there anywhere else that else that sells kits of even completed units?
  2. I'm disappointed, I always held the Woo6 in high esteem. It won't necessarily sound worse as a result but it does seem sloppy to me. Anyone know if his other designs have similar problems in topology?
  3. yeah, how could you tell? lol Maybe, I definitely do like ATH's house sound, and I find it interesting that each ATH has a slightly different sound signature. After going through a few ATH's, I think I've found the sound signature I was looking for. I can't believe I'm the only one to comment on the ATH smell... (I like it)
  4. ? Yeah I own a pair. Vicki was wondering if I owned a pair and most likely also wondering why I would buy her pair if I already owned a pair.
  5. I guess this means that the Dr Dre headphones were a commercial success
  6. Yeah, they're unmodded. I've found a buyer for them and am trying your modded ones out. Thanks again for selling those to me!
  7. I've heard em Voltron, unamped they have a darkish sound signature, and sound congested/compressed imo compare to K271's, K240s (could very well be because the AKG have a more forward midrange) The bass was tight, but it had poor definition/resolution. I would say they sounded like a Koss Portapro that has tight bass, larger soundstage, more detail. similar sound signature. They sound different from every other ATH I've heard. They have a pretty balanced frequency response They are a better studio phone than the competion when it comes to technicality: balanced response, soundstage, imaging, but imo they are trying to cram too much into that price point. But I would buy the K240 over these. I would choose the k240 for regular studio work, and either the HD280 or the K271s for vocals monitoring. But of course, studio monitor speakers are what you really want to be using overall. For just out of an ipod, I would buy the ATH ES7's.
  8. well, I just stuck my K340's back on my head and they are still my faves, It's really too bad, the K340's have the advantage of having a synergystic amp, while the 900ti's are barely being driven properly. ah well might have to chalk up my initial impressions to new toy syndrome. Though with electronica, I'm enjoying them more than my other cans, they're more fun. I've always found ATH cans to be really good with electronica. AD2000 + any fast electronica. And the woodies were really nice with downtempo/lounge/triphop.
  9. Oh god my Ti's are unbelievably awesome. Caveat emptor: Take what I say with a grain of salt the size of the continental USA because I think I'm selling them soon. It has to do with what I need right now (for school) and not what I want. In some ways, these are my fave headphones ever. (their sound signature just seems right) Ultimately, my k340s have better detail and seperation than any headphone I've heard, (useful for transcribing from recordings for school projects) and they also happen to be my favorite headphones for jazz (I am studying jazz saxophone) And ultimately, my Yh100's, although their soundstage is small, provide me unheard of bass detail, (I don't find them bass-heavy because I'm a low volume listener) reason I need bass detail is because I am also studying electronic music production (whompedelic bass drops anyone?) If my DV could run low impedence headphones there's a very good chance I would keep the 900ti, it's just simply the most pleasing headphone to my ears I've heard. When I'm listening I can suspend disbelief more easily than any other headphone. If only enjoying the music was my only criteria, I would sell everything but the ti and the parasound and buy a woo6 w/ pdsp mod and be set for a good while. I don't want to own more than two tube amps at once lest I become like some ghoulish fiend on the other site. (GradoFan2 haha) Also, my K340's and my yh100's are sweating from the competition lol. Sorry for the rant. BTW, I really like the smell of Audio-Technica's, does anyone else find that?
  10. eBay Daily Deal: Great deals for today only - plus free shipping! con-air hand-held massager for $20 shipped
  11. does it come with blue satin in it? hah
  12. If it's anything like the DA10, you shouldn't. The higher end Lavry's just might be really good tho. Looking forward to your impressions of the P-diddy 1000,
  13. depending on what you thought the short-comings were in the first place I guess.. what did you think the short-comings were? fwiw the guy who sold me my sf replaced it with a top-end wadia
  14. two posts today about nothing... I'm an idiot, thinking I know anything about the bass on the sfd2mk2 without hearing it with a sub... lol, just realised that we may be talking from two different approaches I use my sfd2mk2 with my speaker rig, where I think it is exceptional with headphones, I agree, PRaT reigns supreme, and the sfd2mk2 didn't impress me that much. In fact, I prefer the Parasound's solid state PRaT with headphones.
  15. yeah the bass is interesting, I can hear the origin of the note (the attack) and it as tight as the next high-end source maybe even tighter than some, because it extends so deep it creates an illusion of greater speed but the tube bloom distorts it in a weird way, so it isn't as tight as solid state isn't as crispy I'm only using the Mackie monitors and no sub tho I'll report back when my Adam sub gets here
  16. interesting, we definitely have different taste I go more for overall musicality, layering, detail, resolution, 'real' sounding (funny because other than jazz I listen to alot of electronc music) these things create a lot of the effects of prat imo, for me its similar to suspending disbelief when watching a movie the tubes in the output stage do distort the speed of the bass somewhat, but it's a colouratin I can live with the bass imo isn't not tight, like it isn't loose or anything and I imagine it just gets better with the mk3 I like it because it creates a solid structure on top of which the rest of the music resides, it's like structural integrity, a foundation. it is also important to me that the bass sounds somewhat natural, not like the ad2000's bass which is whiplash fast and definitely turns on a dime also the midbass doesn't infiltrate the midrange, but helps creating the foundation not sure what you mean by playback, im thinking you mean source material. don't get me wrong, the sfd2 mk2 is prbly the most transparent source I've ever heard. i think it's bass 'colourations' just make it sound more evenly balanced it's actually ironic, because it's the only source I've ever heard that has tubes. (I always thought tubes = coloured) I really should just keep the damn thing, considering I would only be selling it to buy your mk3 later on anyway
  17. the Parasound 1600HD is a great value, also sounds better with headphones than other DAC's (Sonic Frontiers) due to its solid state prAT and nice headstage/soundstage it also just simply doesn't fuck up imo EDIT: I doubt the 1600hd is 230v switchable without switching out the trafo
  18. what, no love for bass that's like a fat black woman shaking her booty? that's one reason I really really like the SFD2 mk2. the bass doesn't turn on a dime. if you listen to stand-up bass in jazz tracks it sounds more real. not to mention it extends pretty f'in deep as is, before comparing it to the d1, which has a solid state design and probably pretty fault-less bass reproduction yeah, it gets a little wooly with the midbass. again, another reason I like it so much.. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1r7qc_sir-mix-a-lotbaby-got-back_music
  19. there's a minimax for sale on the other site too. and its cheaper than the g-lite
  20. hybrid amp, millet minimax i owned the 650's with a beta22 and it didnt scratch my itch senn's need tube lovin
  21. unless you drive a car, buy food from MacDonalds, I dunno, I doubt the average person is aware of how what they do affects a larger picture I sure don't, but I still eat mostly organic food and ride my bike One thing people don't realise is that your money is your vote. We create the world we want to live in by choosing what we want to buy/support. Although it's hard to see beyond our expenditures, necessary and unnecessary
  22. What are some trustworthy sites to use? I'm new to this, would like to pick up some tubes for my dankvoice amp.
  23. yeah it's an upgraded MKI, there's a toggle switch. it's unfortunate too, because I could use an optical input at times (a real one, not AT&T optical, whatever the hell that is)
