  1. I remember hearing Umbrella on the radio and I actually had no idea what the song was about until I saw that it was called Umbrella she says (well its actually the delay effect) ella and/or hella just as much or more than umbrella, which could be of interest to someone who is interested in subconscious psychology that aside, she does have admittedly excellent production (like most big names, because they can afford it) However imo she is bested by Bjork on the grounds of both quality of production and quality of content I doubt Holland will get this, but one of the most accessible jazz albums in history is Miles Davis - Kind of Blue and if you like that, also check out Cannonball & Coltrane's album:Amazon.com: Cannonball and Coltrane: Cannonball Adderley & John Coltrane: Music The second one is particular is friendly to hifi soundstaging because each saxophone is projected from a different side. It's been a while since I've listened to Kind of Blue (I'm a little sick of both) but I don't recall it being particularly unfriendly to someone with refined soundstage sensibilities.
  2. yeah I feel the same way about hearing music I wouldn't buy myself, I'll leave it up to my partner's discretion
  3. I looked for that emoticon and couldn't find it aha! there it is! in other news, why isn't he yet?
  4. is it necessary to quote that many pictures?
  5. on a second glance, the digital lens doesn't actually output the elusive BNC and on a side note, this thread really is nothing but fail on my part, drinking too much coffee must be introducing jitter in the digital signals traveling to my brain
  6. yeah I remember reading somewhere that the reason why toslink was favoured over coaxial for some people (providing they have that available input) was because more jitter was introduced/quality lost in conversion of the signal to toslink than to coaxial this opened my eyes a bit; apparently quality is lost/jitter is introduced depending on what input/conversion you use? hence why I brought the Transporter's data conversion up I thought this was common knowledge, but perhaps I'm misinformed If the information above is true, it doesn't make sense to convert the digital signal unnecessarily unless you need it for something else (like wireless transmission, or perhaps if the specs for jitter rejection are better, like a Digital Lens or D2D-1)
  7. Here's another transport that has BNC output: Genesis digital lens (only supports 16 bit) AudiogoN ForSale: Genesis digital Leaving this and the Transporter as the only known computer-as-source transports that output BNC so far.
  8. Saiko Sounds - Music For Every Dimension
  9. do they sell universals? that would be much easier on an apprehensive buyer, resale values being higher
  10. So how did they compare to the modded or unmodded yh100? And is the millet minimax a recommended hybrid for driving either of these orthos?
  11. there's plenty of other places to stick a finger: nose, mouth, ears, and yes, ass I know because I conducted a poll about it on Head-Fi unfortunately, too many of them already had their head stuck up their ass leaving no more available inputs
  12. yeah, if Starbuck isn't a cyclon, what is she?
  13. Trademark Global 13 Function Swiss Type Knife - Red - eBay (item 200404546100 end time Nov-15-09 10:51:24 PST)
  14. Yeah I think I'm prbly a little too obsessed with this spec stuff, call it bit perfectionsim . But if data is transferred to the the device without any errors I'd be interested in finding out how it works.
  15. The Transporter has BNC output, but to send signal to it you've got to be losing some quality because your'e converting music to a wireless frequencies and then back ...also it's 2K
  16. yup, just pm me your email addy
  17. blessingx, have you ever heard of Karagarga?
  18. I'm in. I can do CD, SACD I'd give my t-shirt size but I don't wear t-shirts in the winter, I just rely on my chest hair for warmth.
  19. There's another thread where we're talking about digital inputs being up to spec, and I wanted to put my concerns that my method is vastly inferior into perspective. Thanks Beefy
  20. Which digital input do you use and why?
