Well autofocus yes. Plenty of zeiss glass that is wider. Given that with super wide lenses you are normally shooting at infinity, the manual focus doesn't really matter. Set it to hfd and f/8 and shoot away. Don't even have to wait to focus. -

Peter is there any advantage to having separate filters as opposed to a variable nd filter? I'm thinking of one just for the sake of convenience. -
I was given a choice of some free seats to a baseball game at marlins stadium. http://miami.marlins.mlb.com/mia/ballpark/seat_selection_guide_32.jsp Between the Baseline Reserved, Bullpen Reserved and Home run Porch, which seats would be the best? Never been to a baseball game and couldn't find a dedicated thread in the sports forum.

I seem to have very sensitive skin or the neck strap that came with the d800 is full of nasty bacteria (probably both). I finally took it out yesterday and woke up today with nasty inflammation and bumps on the back of my neck where the strap rested. Are there any straps that are considered hypoallergenic? Or made more carefully than perhaps the stock neckstrap? -

I only have Lightroom, Ari. To my knowledge one needs Photoshop to be able to do stacking like that. But its a cool way to get around needing a filter. However I am not sure the cost of Photoshop is less than the cost of a filter even if there is some extra noise to contend with. PS. Looking for open source stuff/plugins for LR that will do stacks on a macbook air. The amount of time spent shooting 30 frames and then processing them on a computer with 4gb ram might not be stomachable. Will give it a try tomorrow night though. -

Thanks Dan. No filter unfortunately but the only times I really get to go out are lunch or night times so I think it wise to invest in one for these long exposures. But 10 second exposure at ISO 80 I think with some other exposure compensation that I can't remember. Might have been able to push the time longer with an nd filter and get longer light trails but quite pleased with how this one came out. The tripod has helped immensely. No way I could have pulled this off with that gorillapod. -

Didn't work initially and found ken rockwells review. Apparently you have to rotate it two full circles for it to lock. I was expecting it to click into place instead of screwing in. -

Gene, At whatever the f stop was - either f2 or 2.8. It is back focusing a wee but I think on my body. Today I finish all my finals for the semester (the ones I'm teaching) so hopefully will have some time tomorrow to get the af fine tune dialed in. But I think it just needs adjustment by +2 or 3. Nothing major. I don't like that the hood doesn't lock in neither the resting nor the extended position. I feel that over time, it might loosen up. I was also thinking about the 135 dc but after looking at the field of view the 105mm gives me, I think the 135 would be too claustrophobic (mostly I've shot 35 or 50mm so it is weird getting used to this longer focal length but after I took the first shot I understood why it was the preferred length for portraits.) -

I agree entirely. Taking a photograph of a girl doesn't mean I am looking for someone else to go out with though. Not that it matters, but she is a student of mine. I was holding a review prior to the final exam at Whole Foods. Above picture was the only one that wasn't ruined by harsh shadows from midday sun. Also it was the only one where I used the flash and the clouds somewhat covered the sun.
