It's probably the same shipping cost for Iceland and Portugal, it's still not cheap, but certainly better than outside Europe

Well we had to have some advantages of living in Europe didn't we? You guys get the cheapper components, we get the "cheaper" cases!

For those not wanting to read over 700 pages of info, could you sum up the main characteristics of this amp? Circuit, transistors used, advantages/disadvantages of this circuit?

I've used Clearaudio cleaning liquid: http://www.clearaudio.de/download/zubehoer/testbericht_clearcontact_hf.pdf I've dropped a few drops on the elna switch, rotated quite a few times, probably more than 100 times and waited 30mins for the product to evaporate. The problem remains. guess I could try to bipass the elna with a 2 wires to see if the problem is even there. then do the same with balance control.

This just crossed my mind: WD 40 is very good with corrosion and oxidation. Any reason why I shouldn't use it?

I have a "audio" cleaning liquid from clearaudio or another known company. Would I just use the brush and clean the switch? How do I clean the inside contacts?

I could use some help with a problem I have in my father's amp. It is an integrated tube amp, Sonic Frontiers SFC-1. The amplifier has a "direct" toggle switch, which sends the signal directly from the RCA input to the volume pot,and then has 4 inputs which go through an elna selector switch and a balance control. When using "direct" nothing is wrong, but when using any of the other 4 inputs there is audible distortion in the music. I went through the tubes, checked and replaced each one with some older ones and they seem to be fine, the situation continued. I've inspected the solder joints in the rca's and the elna switch andthey seem ok. the balance control is impossible to check without removing it from the amp. The amp is about 10 years old with an average of 1-2 hours of daily usage. Any ideas why this is happening?

So I spoke with CE and the quotes are cheaper with the USD to EU conversion, and even if I have to pay VAT, it ends up being cheaper about 25%!!!

Does CE ship to Europe? I can't find anything on their website about that! with the international shipping and customs fees added it probably will be about the same time though...

I will be ordering some front a back panels for a gamma 2, if anyone wants a pair, let me know, I can order and if we get to 5 there's 10% from FPE. The panels are for no digital outputs on the front panel, neither to have a mini out on the front panel for the y1 output. I can also share the FPE files for double checking or if you wish to order them yourself(if you're in the US, it might be cheaper) Here's a picture: ps: mods, if there is any problem with this, please remove it and let me know

After you see the videos and read online information, it's always good to buy a perfboard and a few resistors(the cheapest you can find ata local store) and just practice soldering. Watching the videos doesn't replace a bit of practice!

Using SMD I guess it would be possible to fit a mini3 inside.

I'm not sure if his ipod is EU volume limited, but there is an option in the menus to remove a volume limitation, but volume isn't quite the problem. There is some harshness in the sound, and the bass isn't as controled as it could be. It might be the IEMs, I guess he should wait for the TF10's to see if it improves, which is very likely.

I'm looking for an amplifier for my brother's ipod classic. He has a pair of UEsuperfi4vi with plans to upgrading later to a pair of triple fi 10. He doesn't wan to have a lod +portable amp because of size and price. Ive seen threads over at the other place about the Fiio and similar amps, but never paid much attention because it's really not my thing. I've been through a couple of those threads but under all that crappy posting is it hard to find some useful information. Does anyone have an opinion on these "cheap" amp like this one: Head-Direct.com | YUIN Is there under 80-100$ that is any good?
