I'd also like to take a minute and thank both Nelson Pass and Jon Ver Halen (Lowther America) who have been exceptionally generous with their time in helping me with the Cicada issue. Without their help I'd have no options right now. Not that it was ever in doubt but they are both class acts.
Thanks for the kind words guys.
Stretch, I see what you did right there.
Greg, I find the key to a uniform braid is as simple as having a solid anchor point. That lets you have a consistent tension on the wires and keep the same relative angle as you progress.
I needed some IC's for the soldering rig (lent out my loaner cables) so I whipped these up last night. I think I will call them the Dusty Chalk series.

This thread has officially jumped the shark. Comparing the difference between the two versions of the O2 as has just been done is insanity. Do they sound slightly different, yes, but I'd say they are more the same than different especially when properly driven.
Nope, I just have it on a simple pedestal stand. It's pretty stationary in my shop so the wheeled stand would actually just be in the way.
If all goes well I may be picking up a new/used lathe today.
My drill press is out on loan so the counter sinks are not done very well and the boards were slightly damaged so I'll probably replace them at some point. The clamping mechanism that holds them in place could be better implemented as well. I just wanted something to finish it off for now.
Mmmmm indeed, even with a mediocre finishing job they look pretty tasty.
I think what we're trying to get across (at least I was) is that your 28ohm "low impedance" output is what most of us would consider quite high. I can say first hand that I have heard amplifiers with an output impedance of ~100ohm and it sounded quite back with the 32ohm Grados that I was using at the time. I now use an amplifier with an output impedance of 27ohm and it sounds quite good so I suspect your amplifier on the lower setting will have the potential to sound good. As with many things in this hobby/market the proof will be in the listening. I'll definitely try to give it a listen at CanJam.
