  1. TTVJ Millett 307A amp sourced by the Meridian 808 is my vote. My balanced HF-1's sounded fracken great out of it. I'm going back tomorrow to through the Hd650s at it. It also looks really nice in person - much less plain jane than I expected. Justin's BH + O2 rig was also exceptional. His plans for the production chassis are just sick.
  2. Like any same person I bought a second pair. And I listened to Vicki's R10's on my amp and while they are very nicc I could never justify their cost over cans I like just as much.
  3. If a Bh ever finds its way into my rig it'll use some very different pcbs.
  4. I'm pretty sure a BH is out of reach but I'm looking forward to using the star trafo box with the Koss phones.
  5. Clearly you weren't thinking. I just switched to Dan's ESP950s and while they aren't up to the level of the o2 they are pretty damn good.
  6. I'm at this rig right now - sweet Jesus. Listening to Goldfrapp's 7th tree and man it just sounds good.

Sorry - the real question is where is postjack? He hasn't been seen since 3pm!

Dan and Nate coming to you live from Canjam. All is well with the menace and the party is in full swing.
  10. again...
  11. What, you think that I'd find something missing if I only had mono?
  12. No worries, he's already stuck in Canada.
  13. Yup, lots of choices for Icepower stuff. Anything from single-channel small form-factor amps like the ones already mentioned to multi-channel HT stuff.
  14. I think the Bel Canto's use a different module. Headroom opted for one of the lower power modules since nothing on your desktop is ever going to need the 1000W that the Bel Canto ICE amps are rated at. IIRC they've licensed various forms of the tech to folks like Rotel and others so they're all over the place at this point.
  15. Open one of headrooms new monoblock amps and you'll likely find something very similar.
  16. I'm hoping they sound good too since my next project is this:
  17. The single-ended desktop series has always had pre-outs. Tyll has had the idea for the Audiophile desktop (or some version of it) for a long time now, at least back to '05 when I first met him, so pre-out functionality was part of the required feature set. There's just no room for them so there's no option to add them unfortunately.
  18. Let's just hope it's back up in time for live CanJam impressions on Saturday. I'll only have the touch with me but I'm sure others will have lappys with them. Hell, I almost bought an eeepc just for the trip but the wife would have killed me.
  19. Clearly the packages aren't meant for folks like us, they're for the guy/gal who doesn't want to take the time to obsessively research all the ins and outs of what it would take to put that all together. So I don't even look at the preconfigured stuff. The components, specifically the stands, interest me a great deal and I'm going to try like heck to pick up a pair for my workspace downstairs (solder rig).
  20. Watched last week's Reaper last night. I really enjoy that show.

I haven't had a pet for a while and probably won't for a good long time. The last one that I had was Mooch, the cat that came with our house (long story). Mooch passed away last winter, she was an exclusively outdoor cat and choose the wrong place to try and stay warm during an ice storm. Before that was Sam, the dog that I grew up with. I miss her like heck.
  22. Al, I've tried a diffuser and honestly, in most situations, just bouncing the flash (assuming the ceiling is reasonably low and fairly reflective) works better for how I like things to look. Of course Tyll's diffuser is way more sophisticated than the one I use so his results are much better with it, mine still results in too much of a direct flash look. Still, there are situations which demand the use of a diffuser to avoid the brutal hot spot that any direct flash (on or off camera) is going to provide when you can't bounce. See if you can find one of the simple cap style diffusers and then play around with it to see what angle results in the best results.

Thanks man, I'm looking forward to getting to hear it again too. I got far too little time with it before it left for FLA. They are in fact 100uF, my source has them from time to time. Shoot me a PM if you'd like the link. Actually, as far as amps go I'm retired. I still build the occasional cable but I'm done w/ amps for a good long time, sorry.
  24. Before getting a lens I'd get a good flash. To me proper lighting can make or break meet pics. I've never had an issue using my stock nikon lens even though I lust for a good wide angle zoom.
