  1. Hi xuys and gals, I'm thinking of getting some XLR splitters for my setup and this device looks good to me and avoids ground hum issues: Amazon.com: ROLLS MS20c MICROPHONE SPLITTER/COMBINER: Musical Instruments Am I breaking any rules if I use this for balanced audio instead of mic-level audio? Also are transformers essentially transparent to audio frequency signals? Thanks in advance
  2. Yeah I guess it's too big to smuggle in my anal cavity... Realistically they can't be too high on electronics or everything on the electronics store shelves would cost an absolute fortune. That said that price difference seems odd for people in the US but people in Europe are probably well acquainted with it. There though a lot of it is taxes so I'm not sure what the deal is here.
  3. I dunno I just ran the dp-600 through pricejapan and got $7400 you could afford to fly it to japan 2/3 times personally for the price difference between that and MSRP.
  4. Could we do what the GS-X does too? You can certainly still hear sound with the RCA input on balanced headphones though I guess it's not the same.
  5. Justin, Was "Use 2 Dynafet boards per channel" what you do in the GS-X (of course with dynalo boards)? It appear to be but I'm not sure.
  6. SE to balanced would be awesome but it doesn't need to be a transformer on my GS-X it appears that it just puts the ground to the -VE boards on the SE inputs.
  7. fixed Thanks to Grawk I believe.
  8. Nope no such luck. Generally my wife and I stick to the KC (we attend more ballet and opera than classical) because we like to take the Metro into DC but I'll have take a look at what's going on out there.
  9. Dammit. I got our tax return done over the weekend and was looking to spend our return on some trips but my brother is visiting from Barbados on the 7th. You guys have a good one.
  10. Didn't know about this thread. Ann Sophie Mutter, Andre Previn and some bassist along with the Kennedy Center Orchestra at the Kennedy Center. That woman is awe inspiring with a violin.
  11. Processor/Pre-amp....
  12. It's not fundementally abstract for me but I certainly prefer to be able to switch albums at the drop of a hat. I await the sony processor with digital in. This could prove to an amazing setup for a relatively low price?
  13. Still down for me. Oh well I'll get used to it.
  14. We want but me have no use for it...
  15. If I type in Head-Case.org I get this: Everything else (forums and chat) functions as normal but for some reason the main page isn't working. Any ideas?
  16. You guys rule! I'm sorry I can't really help other than financially but I'm trying to follow all the happenings. Would it be possible to order 4 boards worth of parts along with my properly built ones (ie not by me) so I can maybe give DIY a try again?
  17. Send me your money!!!!! You'll get your amps in 3-4 years if fed-ex doesn't give me trouble Seriously I'm in for whatever... Probably not a good idea to have me do the money though since my life borders on the insanely hectic nearly all the time
  18. Continuum mechanics? Definitely using continuity to simplify.
  19. DSP certainly makes it a lot easier but what you said was "DSP-based convolution of the signal based on an average head or room transfer function" which is likely what it is. Well I've actually written my own convolution generator etc for DSP and I see nothing that can't be done in analog (admittedly not with the control you get in DSP). I'm getting an SPL phonitor for review (bloody shipping is taking forever) which includes a very complex crossfeed and I'll know better how they do working in the analog domain.
  20. It is likely just that a DSP based convolution based approach that attenuates and phases the data. It can be done in analog too (eg in the phonitor).
  21. I'm still in. I hope this works out!
  22. Yup. It's a stereo imaging control. My DEQ 2496 has a similar thing built in as one of the many functions. I'm sure it has slightly different controls than others but in the end they all do phase shifting and some attenuation. Good times. Interesting to see what the price ends up being.
  23. Agreed
  24. luvdunhill - 8 - 4 Asr - 0 - 4 Stretch - 0 - 4 looser101 - 4 -2 PFKMan23 - 0 - 4 Naamanf -? - 4 Icarium - 0 - 4 Dreadhead - 0 - 4 Maybe willing to pay for a couple boards in addition to my costs for the builders trouble.
  25. so where does the cd go? Congrats on the install and the new cart
