People around here and over at HF mock the DAC1 way to much. The thing is very very good and puts out what's recorded. That's the problem for a lot of people. I had the USB for several months and really liked it. Sure it's harsh to bad recordings but that's by design as best as I can tell.

I get free 2 day from Amazon and I did not discuss it with HR but I'll probably talk them into the same thing. In the end both HR and Amazon will give whatever price they end up selling for as I have confirmed with HR and Amazon has in their user policy. I'm excited about these since I've been dying for Qualias and the look like they could be a worth replacement. As long as they didn't do the HD650 sound to them. But to be honest if the THD is as low as they claim then my correction will work so well it will not really matter. I figure then I can get rid of my 650s, D5000s and stockpile another pair maybe though there is no talk of them being limited run. That said the market for high end is not doing well and a lot of statement products are dropping out of production.

I also placed a pre-order with Headroom. They are far more informative and expect the first shipment mid-Feb with Tyll apparently getting a demo pair at the end of the month. I figure if they do suck I can still sell them within a month for what I bought them for In the end this is still a lot cheaper than my electrostatic experiment.

I entirely agree. Also the fact that won't have to worry about breaking them every time I put them on is a huge plus for me.

Amazon sells 8k cameras and other expensive stuff that's not "mass market" so I find that one a rather weak argument. That said Nates "rumor" may come from Tyll and then be right. I'm just really surprised that Amazon would put up a pre-order with a stock photo they got from someone (Sennheiser maybe?) and not actually sell the product.

They have them for pre-order which means that I would think they would have already discussed this, they certainly don't put up preorder on every new high end lens that comes out only the ones they will sell. If they have to cancel the orders of people for a product they believe they are getting I think they might be pissed. But as you say the price range is different.

I find that hard to believe to be honest. Sennheiser would probably piss off a source of a lot of sales for them if they pulled that with Amazon. I could be wrong though. I'm almost tempted to pre-order from them.

Did you see the additional pictures? Sennheiser HD800 cable on Flickr - Photo Sharing! They are showing them at CES with Benchmark as DAC and heaphone amp for a Meitner. I love it. Jude say's the Meitner it source and the DAC1 is an amp but that's a plain Jane DAC1 so that's impossible. My wife has already agreed. She's awesome.

I highly doubt you dropped to 1300 calories, that's my "my god I need to make weight for a regatta" intake. 1200 is the minumum that they ever recommend and is not a "healthy" intake. Congrats on the weight loss though.

I have the DiMarzzio interconnects from Headroom they do the trick and are pretty nice.

I'm at 259 and my goal is back down to 200-210 (I'm 6'5", in July 03 I was 289 then by Jul 04 I was 210 and kept it for about 12 months but then I've crept back up). I get the KGSS out of hock with my wife at 230 and hence I don't want Justin to finish too quickly and I have to let it sit in a box while I still have weight to lose. She says if I go back over 230 then she'll take it away. She's a lawyer she'll take my ass to court if I don't... Well at least it's good motivation. I'm doing very low calories 3 days a week and "healthy" 4 days a week and I'm already down quite a bit. It works great. Today is a low calorie salads only day though which blows.
