April 23, 200719 yr comment_29772 Are you trying to say that my K340's are stacked? Not surprising I guess... I am a tits and ass guy, why shouldn't that go for headphones as well? Report
April 23, 200719 yr Author comment_29784 In your case the K340 is the woman you married. Rofl. Arghhhh. A PS-1 is up for sale. >$2100 though. Damn, that seems a little bit above the $1.8-2.0k I was expecting. Not that I can afford them anyways. So the HPs aren't worth it if the recording sucks? Most of my recordings are total crap though. That might be a problem... Report
April 23, 200719 yr comment_29794 no, i think they have completely different signatures. the PS-1 has a lot of bass, but it has that slightly hot treble that the RS-1 has. the HP-2 has no brightness if you don't feed it a bright signal. This probably most accurately reflects my impressions as well. April 23, 200719 yr comment_29797 Hey HP-2 owners/fans, can the HP-2 do classical?Yes, absolutely. Report
April 23, 200719 yr comment_29798 Unfortunately, excellent condition HP-1000s are starting to go for over $2000 as well. Are you serious? (considers selling his HP-2's which he hardly ever listens to) Report
April 23, 200719 yr comment_29799 I haven't seen any go for over $2k but very frequently they go for $1500. Report
April 23, 200719 yr comment_29803 I haven't seen any go for over $2k but very frequently they go for $1500. Well I should say I've seen people asking for them in excess of $2K. Not sure if any sell for that much. Report
April 23, 200719 yr Author comment_29811 Madness I tell you. What are differences between the HP1000 and HP2 btw? I read the long vintage Grado thread last year, but it wasn't too clear. Report
April 23, 200719 yr comment_29812 HP-1000 is the series number and includes the models HP-1, HP-2 and HP-3. A bit more detail in this thread, with feedback from others http://www.head-case.org/index.php/topic,1260.0.html Report
April 23, 200719 yr Author comment_29814 Ah ha, I see. Thanks! Hmmm, gahh... I need money. I want that PS-1. Or perhaps HP-2. Sell it all for the Grados? Report
April 23, 200719 yr comment_29819 Hmmm, gahh... I need money. I want that PS-1. Or perhaps HP-2. Sell it all for the Grados? You could always sell one of your kidneys. I've heard that some places will also pay you for a partial liver donation, and unlike your kidney, your liver will grow back after they cut a chunk off it. Report
April 24, 200719 yr comment_29881 I don't get the PS1, save for once years ago, it's always sounded like an HD650 with more bloated bass and a narrower soundstage. The HP1000 is a different beast altogether for me. Report

The HP1000 is a different beast altogether for me. Exactly the opposite for me, the ps1 grabbed me where I think , the hp1s were too clinical and analytical. With ps1s, I was in the music, with hp1s, I was listening to the details. Report
April 24, 200719 yr comment_29891 Go figure, eh? I found the HP1000 in the right system connected me to the music very directly in a way only few others can. I'd probably own a pair if not for the facts that they're discontinued, somewhat challenging to get repaired, overpriced in the current market, and heavy as heck. Report
