no, i think they have completely different signatures. the PS-1 has a lot of bass, but it has that slightly hot treble that the RS-1 has. the HP-2 has no brightness if you don't feed it a bright signal.

What are differences between the HP1000 and HP2 btw? I read the long vintage Grado thread last year, but it wasn't too clear.

HP-1000 is the series number and includes the models HP-1, HP-2 and HP-3.

Exactly the opposite for me, the ps1 grabbed me where I think , the hp1s were too clinical and analytical. With ps1s, I was in the music, with hp1s, I was listening to the details.

Go figure, eh? I found the HP1000 in the right system connected me to the music very directly in a way only few others can. I'd probably own a pair if not for the facts that they're discontinued, somewhat challenging to get repaired, overpriced in the current market, and heavy as heck.
