October 11, 200718 yr comment_56378 Looking for DIY amp cases that resemble the ARC amps. So must be silver and the love handles are a nice touch Needs to be around 16" length along the front of the case. Thanks guys! Report
October 11, 200718 yr Author comment_56388 What are you building? Pars metal is what I'm thinking. Sent you PM Report
October 11, 200718 yr comment_56390 I think ATI might be a closer match than anything Par-Metals could produce. or None of the rack mounted Par cases that I've seen have integral heat sinks, which I'm guessing you'll need for the build, if not something like this might work (click for link to ebay auction). October 11, 200718 yr Author comment_56393 Thanks Nate. Integrated heat sinks aren't necessary. Report
October 12, 200718 yr Author comment_56669 The Pars-Metal 12 series case looks like it will suit me very well and they're based in the USA (unlike ATI or Hifi2000). Is the clear anodized (aluminum) the one that will look closest to the ARC finish? Thanks Report
October 12, 200718 yr comment_56670 Don't buy anything from parmetals directly, or you'll pull out your hair. Buy from their ebay auctions only. Report
October 12, 200718 yr Author comment_56671 Don't buy anything from parmetals directly, or you'll pull out your hair. Buy from their ebay auctions only. Why? They only have that one case listed on ebay, and I want something that's taller. Report
October 12, 200718 yr comment_56672 It'll take you years to get it, and we will be lucky if it has all the parts. Report
October 12, 200718 yr comment_56673 par metals is responsible for 90% of the delays with my m3. If you're not buying 1000 cases, they really suck at customer service. Report
October 12, 200718 yr comment_56677 Why? Hmm, I've done ok buying direct from Par Metals. It wasn't a great experience but wasn't as bad as what I'm hearing from others. Bottom line Deepak, the finish on the Par chassis is never going to be anywhere near a professional chassis that an electronics company would use. There's a reason that they are the cheapest large format chassis you can buy. Report
October 12, 200718 yr comment_56678 Nate, I just realized that I need a list of websites for all potential cases; the Head-Fi DIY showoff thread is mostly a sparse shotgun spray of random things, and trying to find a good case is starting to become difficult. Report

I understand the finish won't be some nice powder coating or anything, but as long as it's not raw aluminum it should be fine. I guess I'll continue to look for more options. Nate would you mind sharing your experience with Par-Metal? If you don't want to post it here a PM would be great. Thanks. ATI hasn't got back to me yet, and I can't read Italian (HiFi2000) \ Report

Thanks. No worries about sharing, ordered a couple of cases, took about a month to get them. But Grawk is right, the Ebay vendor, if you can find what you're looking for, is much, much quicker. October 12, 200718 yr comment_56694 Thanks. We'll see how much it costs to send big chunks of metal from Italy to the US I believe the technical term is a "shit load". I think it's typically more expensive than the chassis itself. Here's the thing, all chassis makers are a compromise of some sort, you can get any two of the following: quick, cheap, atractive, never all three. Report
October 13, 200718 yr comment_56790 I must say that I'm rather partial to that ARC look with the love handles. I'm going to miss it when I sell my PH3. Report
October 16, 200718 yr comment_57617 I would have to second that ARC look. Why are you selling your PH3? Report

October 30, 200718 yr comment_61047 I like the case that HiFi2000 has in their banner, but I can't find it for sale on their site. =[ Report
October 30, 200718 yr comment_61050 I like the case that HiFi2000 has in their banner, but I can't find it for sale on their site. =[ As far as I know it's just one of their Pesante Dissipante cases with a heavy front panel and optional handles. You'd just have to email them for more information, assuming this is what you're talking about. Report
