July 8, 200817 yr I'm looking for those connectors that sony and AT use with the 3.5mm plug with a screw on 1/4" adapter. Does anyone know if they're available?
July 8, 200817 yr I can't say that I've ever seen one for DIY use. What's the application? Perhaps there is a better solution?
July 8, 200817 yr Have you looked at audiocubes? IIRC, they have/had AT 1/4 adaptor, but don't know if it's a screw-on one.
July 8, 200817 yr Author I just like the screw on 1/4" adapters so I wanted to make a 4pin to 3.5mm/1/4" cable that used one .
July 8, 200817 yr Google "AKG screw-on 1/4 adaptor" and few places pop up that appears to carry the adaptor. Of course, it doesn't say anything about the 1/8" part.
July 8, 200817 yr Author getting inside the connector was nearly impossible on the sonys I had. Do the akg ones open up?
July 8, 200817 yr I think the best solution is to just have two 4-pin adapters (one to 1/8, one to quarter) rather than use an adapter on an adapter. I mean really, how often would you use something like this anyway?
July 8, 200817 yr Author I just want a cable to throw in my travel bag. And the fewer cables the better, basically. I was just doing 4pin to mini with a non-screw in adapter. I suppose I can just make a 4pin to 1/4 and be done, I just happen to like the screw on adapters.

It's a tiny cable and you are less likely to lose it than a screw on adapter. Or make your own. For the price it's really easier to just buy the Sennheiser.
July 8, 200817 yr So carrying a cable plus a small screw-on adapter is preferable? You're a finicky bish today, aren't ya?
July 8, 200817 yr Author I'd carry the cable with the screw on adapter screwed on It's just an esthetic thing. I was curious if what I wanted was available, that's it. Leave me alone

July 8, 200817 yr He was asking for sources...suggestions for alternatives -- although intended to be helpful -- and opinions of same -- not so helpful -- were still thread-crapping. Give him a break.
July 9, 200817 yr Or could you could make a dual-tailed adapter w/ both 1/4 and 1/8 plug options. Fucking genius.
