Damn. Okay, just need to buy every desired disc that may leave streaming in the next 20+ years. Wait, Sony is ceasing MiniDiscs too? Betamax is still safe though, right?

May I suggest tracking this website then?

  • Increasingly speciality releases are probably where Blurays are headed. Especially ones with sand.      https://viavision.com.au/shop/dune-1984-limited-edition-sandbox-4

  • Bought a used Oppo BDP-103. I'll let you know what I think once I get it.

Interesting. Thanks! I don't believe I've ever heard of D-VHS, but seems like an oasis of Bikini Destinations titles.

Sony releases its first new Blu-ray player in 5 years, the updated UBP-X700/K (lacking networking and streaming features).

The growing demand for the sold-out optical disc attachment for the PlayStation 5 may have told them that people still want 4K Blu-ray.

It looks like a stripped-down player, lacking analog audio out, unlike a fancy box like the expensive Panasonic DP-UB9000PC:

Haboob arrived (in plastic wrap)! 🙃

Perhaps this will prompt Panasonic to finally add SACD playback on a DP-UB9000PC successor... probably not.
