Yeah, but it still didn't make any sense to me what he was trying to get across. I don't see how the signals can end up in series playing the difference between them. The connection is the same as it is for the phones. It's the same signal continued on from the headphone jack bridged with a capacitor and resistor at the posts.

I may be missing something monumentally obvious but damned if I know what. Anyway, I have a 6 pin switch I can wire all this through.

don't worry about it, this doesn't apply to your plug, unless as Pars pointed out, there is some short in the switch.

The position of the cap / resistor should not be critical in your zobel , there must be something that you are overlooking. Just don't know what. ( or the switch is broked) ..dB

I got it all fixed. I rewired it through a on-off-on 125v 5A switch. Redid the grounds to simplify things and now it's happy

good to hear - the switch on those plugs must be a little dodgy ..dB

Oh happy friggin day, I turned on the amp this morning and was instantly met with the smell of burning as yet another board goes pop. I'm officially calling it a day on the Beta.

As nice as it sounds it's really not worth the time and frustration any longer.

I'd like to say it's been fun but it really hasn't. And it's the new board that popped this time. No idea what or why and at this point I really don't care.

It must be a special day because my CTH is also on the blink with the stupid E12 switching on and off every few minutes. Now I'm waiting for the EHHA to blow up to make my day complete.

Not directed at you specifically, and no consolation I'm sure, but this is why DIY shouldn't be seen as a cheap way of getting equipment.

Sure, when everything goes well, DIY cannot be beaten. But get a couple of random gremlins in the system and the general lack of fuss you get with commercial gear suddenly becomes very attractive - regardless of the cost. It was the same for me back when I was assembling PCs for myself and my family.

That sucks but B22's have the annoying habit of going up in flames. Might I suggest something low power but highly capable like the Dynalow? Not easy by any means but a solid amp none the less.

I'm gonna stick with the EHHA and CTH (if I can figure out why the hell it keeps tripping) until other things come up.

As the owner of a Bonfire β22 I must say that I don't believe the amp itself is to blame. In my case it was an unfortunate set of events in a meet setting, with too much going on around us. Before that the amp was stable as a rock for nearly a year.

It's a damned fine amp, and I can't wait to put mine back in my system when it's finished being rebuilt.

Gary I'm really sorry to hear about your issues. I must say that I don't think this was a good project to cut your teeth on though buddy. Hopefully you can recoupe some of your money.

Regarding the CTH, I have been having similar problems too with a few of my builds. It could be any number of things but most probably something to do with the buffer section. But it is strange that it should give out so suddenly.

The E12 could be tripping because of the newer coupling caps you have put in. The long leads on C4L and C4R have been known to cause such problems.

A bit after luvdunhill repaired the smoked board I starting having more issues. Nate was generous enough to take a look. He's replacing at least the one fried board, and I think another that was having issues.

After that the amp and sigma22 PS will both be recased in larger dovetailed wooden cases I made, as well as my TPA Darwin.

Yes, Steve's beta is getting a 2-board transplant since it popped a second board shortly after Marc fixed the one that went big bada boom. I'm becoming more and more convinced that if one goes bad it's more than likely that something on the other channel is going to eventually go as well. Kind of a pisser since often there isn't anything diagnosabley wrong with any of the other channels.

You must share what kinda jig you use. I once owned a Leigh jig but the ex did something with it. Too complicated anyways.
