January 29, 201016 yr There is an excellent feature on headphones for use as studio monitors in this month's issue of Sound On Sound. Check it out if you can - it is interesting to hear about the opinions of various engineers using the same headphones that we purchase for the pleasure of listening.
January 30, 201016 yr It's also worth reading this:- Mixing on Headphones - published in Sound On Sound in 2007, it's less of a headphones review and more of a tutorial - it's very good.
February 2, 201016 yr Author That's an excellent article. I particularly appreciate all the useful resources the writer included.
February 2, 201016 yr I am definitely interested in reading the rest of the article. Thanks for letting us know.
February 11, 201016 yr too bad they didn't get a chance to review the Beyer T1 because they rate the DT880 very highlystudioheadphones.pdf
February 15, 201016 yr too bad they didn't get a chance to review the Beyer T1 because they rate the DT880 very highly Many thanks for posting the pdf. Now I want to research the HD650 more, as they didn't mention anything about a boomy/overdone bass.
February 15, 201016 yr Thanks for the PDF Good read. Considering all I own is 800s and 650s I guess I'm in good company
February 16, 201016 yr Author I wonder how the Alessandro MS-Pro would compare in their lineup. I'm thinking of getting one as an alternate/backup to the HP-2, since it is far lighter.
February 17, 201016 yr Well amped, there isn't any. Really? Amping = controlled bass then I would guess? In that case, goodbye K702, hello HD650
February 17, 201016 yr It's an overgeneralization, but yes, that is what I was saying. It's worth trying for yourself, there should be plenty on the used market, and you should be able to buy one to try at home in your own system and sell it if you don't like it at minimum financial loss to you.
February 17, 201016 yr Author This is slightly off-topic, but has Sennheiser "fixed" the treble in the current HD 600 drivers? That seems to be a common criticism with them - I've seen take-apart pictures of both the HD 650 and the HD 600 that show production variances in the last few years.
