May 19, 200917 yr What about that picture of the three SR-Omegas, okay there is a hybrid among them, but maybe there is another one that is fully broken by now

May 19, 200917 yr You're right. I'm beginning to think no one outside of the Stax crazies know the differences between all the Lambda variants.
May 19, 200917 yr That's not a Lambda Nova in the pic... Yeah I know. But the review is interesting anyhow.
May 20, 200917 yr Stax know full well about us (both HF and HC) but I'm not sure they like all that their seeing. I really should post that SR-007Mk2/A mod guide on HF to stir up some shit... Birgir, ok if it is the caser that Stax knows about HF and HC, does Stax care about the community. In other words, do they care what we think about Stax products?
May 20, 200917 yr That I'm not so sure about. They appear to only change something when the distributors get mad and demand it but otherwise they go their own way.
May 21, 200917 yr Just a quick question: do SR-X type drivers fit in a SR-50 electret shell (and if yes, does it makes any sense)? Thanks.
May 22, 200917 yr Heh, you aren't the only one thinking about that. I remember bugging Carl about it but I don't think he said yes.

May 22, 200917 yr SR-50 is the crazy closed Stax electret, right? Why exactly would you want something like that, and couldn't you use some other fosterphone for the same purpose? You'd still have to recable since electrets are only 4 pin. Yeah, Carl is busy with real life. I bought some Stax stuff from him the last time we all wondered where he was and he's still taking his sweet time. I sent him an email a few days ago. I just hope the stuff gets here before summer ends so I have some time to fix up some stuff.
May 22, 200917 yr I just see those for cheap sometimes and I was thinking a good sounding closed headphone with Stax written on the sides
May 22, 200917 yr Might as well buy a pair and see how they sound first. Certainly a rarity, at least in the US (actually, I haven't seen any here). But I doubt Stax did any extensive thinking and design with the cups like they did with the 4070. I could be wrong...
May 22, 200917 yr Carl loves his SR-50s, incidentally. According to him, their main caveat is that they're even worse than the SR-Xmk3 comfort wise.

Not excellent and magical, but the design was thought through.
May 22, 200917 yr The Sr-50 doesn't have any of the bass reflex stuff of the 4070 but the idea to use a small dome as a back, was a good one.

May 23, 200917 yr There is a pair of Stax DA-80M monoblock power amps for sale locally over here. If they are any good and anybody wants them, I'd be happy to contact the seller and see if he will ship it overseas. Or if you absolutely need it and the guy won't ship it abroad, then I could probably help you buy it and ship it out to you. I have no idea if that vintage Stax amp is any good or if its even worth it, but just thought I'd post about it here in case anyone is looking for it for any reason.
May 24, 200917 yr Anybody need some spare 1960's Stax drivers? Are those just modified SR-3 drivers or something? Looks cool, but I already have SFIs that need proper housings.
