Can I Put a Grado Sonata In My E-Mu?

  1. Started by tony3d,

Has anyone here used an iPod as a jukebox? I was thinking of getting DLO's Music Remote and use my video iPod to play through my stereo. I will re-rip my music at a very high bit rate. My main concern is what effect the dock will have on the sound in the way of noise. Does anyone here have experience with this?

  3. looks like a pretty interesting combo. still looking for that perfect <$1000 dac.. anyone have any experience with the p-3a in particular? this combo is years old but hey, worth a shot. has i2s which is nice. i think modwright has a mod for these.. edit: yes, they do.

  4. Is it worth getting a cheap Sony CE595 for just multi-channel SACDs? I'm really happy with redbook as it is (and my DA10), since most of the music I listen to is released on this format. But there are a few mutli-channel SACDs that I'd love to hear on my K1000. Do you guys think it's worth it? And will I be able to send the analog cables straight to my Pass Labs amp or is something fancy required?

What do you guys think are some good low cost DACs? I'm not opposed to going the DIY route. Just needs a set of analog outs and one digital in (size/form factor not an issue, same with looks could be used uncased for all I care).

What's interesting about this one is that it does HDMI -- I wonder how far off we are from one that can be set to record?

So what do you guys (and gals) think? A Sony TTS-8000 turntable and Fidelity Research FR-54 arm for $1800 total including shipping. Yay or Nay?

Hi, I am considering abandoning my computer as main transport, and would like to find a hd based one. I saw a few for sale around here, but I am wondering which of those would do bitperfect digital out, as well as have decent jitter rejection performances. My source is a non-upsampling Melior Bitstream, and I would use coaxial wire. Thanks for any inputs you can provide.

  9. just as my title, can anyone give me some ideas about detecting the lifetime's of tube inside the audio aero DAC. From what i know, the lifetime of the tube is around 10000 However, the original owner used it for 1 year and 2 months. So i think I can only use it for 10 more months. Is it right? do you know any ways to prolong the lifetube? when i read the instruction, they advise me to let the DAC on all the time . If i turn it off, I need to wait 1 or 2 days to make the DAC do its best when the tube died, where can i contact to have the replacement? thanks

Hi! I've had my Juli@ for about a year now, and I'd like to give it some new OP amps and some OS CONs. I only want to modify the output channels (both RCA and TRS sides) as i hardly ever use the input. AFAIK there are 10 JRC 4580 opamps in total on the card; does anyone happen to know how many (and which) of these are used for the output? I will probably change all the capacitors but I'd like to limit the opamps as National only gives you 3 LM4562 samples at a time.. thanks!

Got an email from the manufacturer. ETA on the DAC3 is 6-8 weeks barring an unforeseen complication/delay. They WILL be offering the DAC via their online/web store as well. Also, I asked about taking Paypal and the email claimed the topic had been referred to another department for evaluation but that they'd probably be doing this as well. I'm sure form of payment doesn't mean much to you single guys but for those husbands like myself who would prefer to keep the amounts he's spending on these "toys" to himself and away from his significant other, this would be a welcome addition to the services offered!

http://www.musicdirect.com/product/73106 Am I correct in assuming that I can connect a turntable and headphones to this phono amp and be able to use it without my reciever connected? If so, what are your opinions of it based on sq or value, or is there someting better that would allow me to do the same thing. I do wish it was MC instead of MM but oh well. I have an old Dual 721 that I wouldn't mind moving to my office, but really don't want to have to deal with the reciever and speakers in there also. Thanks

With my 4-channel Beta22 being assembled by thrice and only having had an H120 fed piccolo dac then my current H120 or usb fed mini-dac I have a question. How do usb fed dacs compare to cd sources ? I am particularly curious about the balanced redbook cd sources in the sub $2000 and sub $1000 price brackets either new, secondhand or pre-built diy.

... Of feeding a digital signal from a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro to the RME Fireface directly for all purpose (i.e. including gaming) use? Let me explain. On all of my PC's at the moment used seriously for any sort of audio use I run both an RME Fireface 800 and a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro. The Elite Pro handles gaming audio and is the default audio interface in Windows. Anything music or media orientated gets squirted through the Fireface. I've standardised on J.River Media Center for that purpose, along with the Algorithmix PEQ bundle of linear phase DirectX EQ's. All that then goes out either to Headroom Max's acting as headphone / pre amp, or Crane Song Avocets connect…

After over 12 years of service, my "home" source, a portable Panasonic SL-S160 player, might be finished. Yesterday afternoon, I heard a popping sound (like static) every few minutes about a half hour into listening to some Jane Monheit - suddenly, the volume dropped out entirely. I turned the amp off, disconnected the line-out and re-connected it, and turned the amp back on. The sound came back, but much quieter, very echoey and distant. At first, I panicked and thought either my headphones or amp was dying. Some testing today proved that both seem to be fine. If I fiddle with the line-out (pull the plug slightly out) on the player, I can get the volume back without e…
