Food and Drink

From Whisky to Water and Soup to Nuts

  1. Started by guzziguy,

A friend of mine just moved to Campo, CO (population 109 in 2010). She really likes it there except that she can not find decent wine within reasonable driving distance. It seems to me that ordering wine on line or by phone for delivery is a good way to solve this. Since I have no experience ordering wines remotely, I'm hoping people here could recommend any of them, both for and against. Thanks in advance for your recommendations. I'm sure that my friend will appreciate them.

I posted about purchasing a new carbon steel pan recently. I thought that member's choice of cookware might be a interesting thread. For my self I have and use a set of non-stick cookware that I like. However most people missuse non-stick cookware. It's not made for high temp cooking, and will offgas at higher temperatures. That's not good for your health or for the pans non-stick characteristics. I also have a stainless set of Cookware that I love. That cookware, as many others require a a certain method of cooking. Pre-heating is a must, but it's quite easy to learn and quite good once you do. Mine is a 5 ply clad set with a copper core as well as aluminum co…

From the Piddle Brewery, Dorset, that is. Recently when driving through the picturesque and amusingly named village of Piddletrenthide I saw a van similar to this. Subsequent investigation revealed the existence of the Dorset Piddle Brewery and their amusingly named collection of Beers. They certainly know how to work a theme. You can even get They even have merchandise They have even made it into a sorbet So, do you fancy a Piddle, then?

All these "This topic has been moved to Drink" has moved me to drink. I have a very small window of opportunity to drink tonight at midnight, so I shall have one drink. This is a bar at a rock'n'roll nightclub that plays mostly metal and hard rock outfits. What should I drink? Last time this happened, I had a vodka sour. They do have a well-stocked bar, with plenty of liquors, but I have a feeling a fuzzy navel might be asking too much. I could be wrong. Perhaps a tequila sunrise? Ah, shit, never mind, I just remembered -- I took a 24 hour medicine instead of 12, I can't drink shit.

With all the drinking threads here shoulden't we have a "Peeing" thread too? After all, you can't do one without the other. What is your favorite peeing stance? What urinals do you prefere? Do you play games with your pee stream? ect.

Well these past few days have generated a few opportunities for some hard to get wines. I can get any amount of Sea Smoke, Ten, Botella and Southing if anyone is interested. I also received a letter notifying me of my allocation for Screaming Eagle so if any of you are insane enough for a outrageously priced California cult bragging rights Cabernet I can share some of my three bottle allocation with you. I am also getting ready to order some Glenrothes 1985 from a store Al turned me on to. The Glenrothes is $105 total. Let me know. This post can be rescinded once I sober up from the awesome dinner and wine tasting I just experienced.

  12. I don't have any access to local liquor stores that sell the kind of scotch that are often recommended here. So what are some reputable places online to get them?
