  1. Ok, will delete and stop complaining. Thanks.
  2. I tried to "upgrade" but it said I wasn't allowed to do that since I was going from Windows Vista Business to Windows 7 Home Premium so I assumed I was doing a clean install (guess not). I will see if I can start from scratch and do a clean install. Since I keep very few "personal" files (all copied to my Mac and backed up there) on the tablet (since the HD is sooooo small) and have very few programs installed, it is not such a big deal for my to restart all over again.
  3. I recently installed Windows 7 on my tablet. It, so far, has been ok - not as bad as Vista or XP. I was trying to see how much room I had on my hard drive to try and do a dual boot Hackintosh tablet. I have hardly anything on the tablet (Windows 7 and Adobe Illustrator plus a few files of my own that take up maybe a few hundred MBs of space). The computer tells me that I have 27GB free out of 68.4GB! WTF!!!! Snooping around a bit I find a folder called Windows.old which has a "size" of 25.2GB and "size on disk" of 20.9GB (presumably all of Windows fu****' Vista and all the programs I had previously on the computer). Anyways, I know this is the Mac thread so I just wanted to complain here and say that Microsoft still has so much to learn from Apple. By the way, anyone know if I can just delete this huge folder and get back half of my harddrive? Is there some way I can reinstall everything and not have this happen.
  4. That could have been useful.
  5. Toslink Optical from Macbook Pro Coax RCA from CD player Easiest options.
  6. I'm in - got a nice Paula Abdul CD in a white elephant gift exchange to pass along. Seriously, I assume that we should send a gift that we think the person might actually be able to use or even enjoy? I can play CD, SACD and wear a size medium shirt. All other disk will be used for ultimate frisbee.
  7. Very nice combo. We tried the balanced JH13 on Steve's B22 at the last Houston meet and, well, I wouldn't kick it out of bed.
  8. You know it! Ah, just kidding Steve, I don't need Krav Maga to kick your butt. :p:p:p
  9. Not a reason, just a slight setback.
  10. Too bad I don't have one of those fancy touch screen tablets (just a digitizer).
  11. What a nice guy you are Colin. I went to my first Krav Maga course and it was awesome! I am now installing Windows 7 on my tablet pc. Let's see if it is any better than XP or Vista.
  12. It seems that if you try to open the cover from the back (for example, if you pick it up and it is "upside down") that it could damage the Kindle. I have tried to do this a couple of times but I am pretty gentle and once I felt something was off, I stopped and turned it around. Nothing happened to mine. I could imagine that if you yanked it open from the back, some damage could be caused. Now that I think about it, since you have little monkey(s), maybe you may want to look into a different cover.
  13. I have the leather cover from Amazon and I am happy with it. I like that you can completely fold back the cover. You do have to make sure not pry it open from the back though (as Wayne mentioned above in regard to other similar type covers). I would prefer to have something that has a hard cover and zips closed (to keep out dirt) but haven't found one that I would like. I usually keep the Kindle naked at home and only dress it when I take it out in public. Amazon.com: Amazon Kindle Leather Cover (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle): Electronics
  14. I am pretty excited about learning "real life" self-defense (and *really* do need to get back in shape). We'll see how the first real class goes on Monday.
  15. This morning I went to a introductory class on Krav Maga (Houston Krav Maga, Houston Israeli Martial Arts, Houston Israeli self defense - the self defense system of the Israeli Defense Forces) and signed up for a year membership. I am not really sure what I have gotten myself into but at least I will be able to kick anyone's butt who tries to steal my JH13's.
  16. Vicki, the trans light blue look very nice, I think I will be happy with something like that.
  17. drp: I am so so so very tempted to get clear but I am afraid of yellowing. The clear demos looked much cooler than any of the other demos that JH sent to me for the Houston meet. I am thinking of doing Electric Blue translucent (or some really light colored blue) so that I can still see the guts (will call JH Audio about the colors tomorrow). No artwork though (and no tats on my body either). Definitely getting the 64" cable. I was pretty impressed with the demos recently. I really didn't ever see myself ever getting a pair of high end custom IEMs but it seems that I have been pushed over that edge.
  18. Went to the audiologists today for my impressions for the JH13's and will be mailing them to JH tomorrow morning. The impressions only cost $50 which made me happy. Also, the woman made sure to follow the list of "rules" I printed out from JH Audio's page which also made me happy. Now I just need to figure out what setup to use at the office with the JH13's (Headroom Desktop amp/dac, Gilmore Lite + Pico Dac or just a plain old Ipod Classic). For those who are wondering why I am not waiting for the so called JH16's or JH45's or whatever: The JH13's are clearly better because 13 is prime. But of course, 16=2^(2^2) which is pretty nice...
  19. OK, found my RCA to 1/8" adapter to try the ONE with the GS-1. It is hard to decide what volume to set it on with the ONE. For some songs, if I set it on half volume, I have to turn the GS-1 to 3pm. For others, 11pm is ok. So I had to keep changing it with each song. The DAC portion is pretty good, not quite as dynamic, impactful or as musical as the ECD-1 but I wasn't really expecting anything like that. Also, I compared it to the 2move that I have and slightly preferred the ONE over the 2move, both as a DAC through the GS-1 and as an amp/dac. It is too bad the 2move is so much quieter (at least on low gain) than the ONE with IEMS. Of course, you should take all of this with a grain of salt since this is my findings over about an hour of listening.
