  1. In my experience with the UE11 and ES3X, they just shaved off different areas to better match my ear depending on my description. If you have fit problems, its definately best to describe in as much detail as you can about where the problem areas are. In the case of my UE11, they had modified one earpiece so much that the earpiece had to be completely replaced due to the integrity of the mold. I'm not sure how nice the earpieces from JH Audio come back after a refit, but in both of my cases with Westone and Ultimate Ears, the earpieces definately came back less shiny(pristine) and slightly marred compared to what they looked like brand new. @Dan - The color of those are awesome and the polar bear artwork rocks!
  2. I'm not exactly sure how similar the Stax T1(S) amps are to the 007t, but comparing the O2 to the HE60 on the T1(S), its pretty clear that the O2 is half asleep. The HE60 on the T1(S) is much more musically satisfying at the extreme ends of the spectrum. The Midrange is the only thing better from the O2 in this setup.(the HE60 midrange is a little strange and etch'd comapred to the O2) As mentioned in this thread somwhere, more current on tap is needed from the amp to bring the two ends of the spectrum alive and that I think is the problem with the Stax amps. Not enough current for the hungry O2. I'm completely disregarding other issues like soundstage laying or detail retrieval in which the O2 lays smack on the HE60. It goes to show that even a techincally superior headphone is not neccessarily more satisfying, but obviously poor amplification dictates that result in this case.
  3. Plants vs Zombies avatar FTW!!! Is this the game little monkey has been playing, or have you been playing it yourself?
  4. Congrats! Now power those puppies with a BH.
  5. Sweet, we gotta do a mini meet when we get the chance. Everything huh......damn, looks like i'm screwed. Impressive, did you just recently aquire ownership of them or are they being lent to you? Thats going to be a fun comparison.
  6. I'm listening to my newly Stax reterminated HE60 from the SRM-T1S and i'm enjoying it immensely. The overall sound is just clean and fast. While the bass is definately on the shy side of neutral quantity wise, i'm really enjoying the quality and detail of it. I was just wondering how much i'm missing out when comparing it to the SR-Omega. I've read many times that the SR-Omega is a better version of the HE60. Now I have heard the SR-Omega, but meet condition impressions are meaningless. Needless to say, I loved what I heard. At this point now, it seems that i've sold the only dynamic I had interest in, the Qualia 010:( to delve deeper into my electrostatic investments, it only makes sense to invest in the direction I seem to be falling deeper and deeper into. With a BH looming in my immediate future, the SR-007 is staying for sure(even underamped I love it so much) but i've wanted a companion headphone that has a more spacious headstage, and increased treble energy just for a change of pace when I feel like listening less critically. What does the SR-Omega improve over the HE60? What do you fellas think, is it time I start the hunt for one?
  7. Hey now, the Qualia 010 had its awesome transverse pressed magnet technology. Although I must say that couldn't save it from sounding like ass from the headphone out of an old Denon receiver. I am indeed a believer in proper amplification.
  8. I don't really understand what price tag and bass quantity have in common, but dang, if the UE11 did not have enough bass for you, the JH13 is not going to cut it for you either...
  9. Damn that case is substantial. Hope you enjoy them Al, as well as give us some casual impressions along the way.

Very nice Birgir, have you been to a meet in the states before? Or will this be a first for you?
  11. Congrats on the SR-Omega Milos. I can't seem to recall if you have ever mentioned to me about listening to one, but regardless its awesome.
  12. @aerius: Ever since I happened to come across your comments exchanged with lowball in one of the FS threads, I just greatly look forward to what you have to say next when situations like that call.
  13. Today sucked. Found some busted PVC piping for the sprinkler system in the backyard. A small tree has been growing undetected for some time right where the pipes are and its roots finally cracked those pipes open. Dug the tree up, shoveled around the pipes and drained water for about 4 hours, then drove down to the local Home Depot and grabbed some new PVC tubes, endcaps, primer and epoxy and began work. Leaks are sealed for the temporary, but I will be needing to hacksaw the tubes back open to reattach the actual valves that broke off in the first place. This kind of diy is not fun.
  14. Since we are on the subject of the earpad position, do you guys position your ears inside the cups farther back toward the thicker part, or more forward toward the thinner part? Although there is much smaller space inside the O2 than SR-Omega, there is still enough room inside to move your ears around.
  15. ^that would be the most winningest option of course.
  16. It depends on your preference of what parts you want your O2 to hang from. As you probably know, the HPS-2 will require the phones to rest on the headband, where the Woo stand will give you the option to hang the phones on either the headband or the arc assembly as pictured on the website. You could try the "Omega" stands from Sieveking. They are a little pricey and i'm not sure how well an O2 would fit on them. They look cool, but the thicker earpads and the complete lack of any sort of swiveling on the O2 worry me when I look at this stand. Sieveking Sound - elusivedisc
  17. If you were to purchase the O2, I would be very suprised if you reacted that way. It would most likely be a matter of growing like, or growing dislike as you had more time to understand its sound. I have not personally heard the KGSS, but I can imagine that its brutally honest design means that you will have to make sure your upstream components are up to your standards(or else you'll easily hear flaws). This statement holds true to my experience with amps that are less revealing, so this will definately apply to the more revealing KGSS. The O2 is a damn fussy creature. If it wasn't for something like the BH, I would most likely not keep it around. In an underamped state you have to be well versed in being able to gain musical satisfaction by capturing various aspects of its marvelous technical merits. And fit is also very crucial. I mean, if I were to just sit back and relax and listen to the music as a whole picture, then the HE60 w/lesser amplification for instance would be much more fun for me to listen to. By comparison the O2 is just slower, its extension although present, seems buried in the mix. It just a thick, bassy snoozefest if I listen to it from a larger perspective. And I think that this has turned away many from keeping it. With proper amplification and a great system behind it, the O2 will transform, but this can take a lot of dedication and time. As I said earlier, I have not heard the KGSS with the O2, so perhaps the KGSS will bring more life into the O2 than compared to my impressions of lesser amps. The best thing you could do is go to a meet, or buy used off Audiogon, HF, Kuboten, YahooJP ect. If you end up not liking it, you wouldn't have much problem reselling for what you paid.
  18. Would really love to have the old option to view more stats.
  19. Happy Birthday Dom! Hope you have a great one today!
  20. Both options would be fine, although hanging it from the arc assembly can cause the leather to become worn over time, since its so tightly wraped around the metal. I actually prefer to just lay them down on a towel or flat surface and under a dust cover.
