Moving to Monitors
Omegas are good recommendation. Audition some ribbons speakers if you get a chance. They're not exactly my cup of tea but I agree they perform well, especially the well built ones like Usher or Selah. This would be a best bet if you were to go that route: SSR

Moving to Monitors
I think all your previous gear (Grados, horns) points to the fact that you would like Proac, Splendor, Triangle, Totem, Harbeth, maybe Tannoy. For the price, I'd choose Proac. For the best, I'd choose Harbeth.

Squeezebox Touch
I don't think I'll be updating unless there is a large sonic difference. I have been looking forward to touchscreen since Sonos came out with it but am sorely disappointed that it is capacitive and on the unit itself. I would have snatched up a SB remote with touchscreen.

Router Suggestions
if you plan on filesharing between computers, i'd suggest a gigabit and N router. if the laptop doesn't have wireless N, i'd suggest sticking with a G router bc they tend to be more stable. i'd definitely try to find something that will run dd-wrt or tomato. Linksys and buffalo tends to be most reliable. as a college student with reasonable technical background, you probably don't need to pay the premium for an airport.

it's a well known issue with FF. 3.5x seems better than 3.0x

- Considering a Few Upgrades to the Desktop
Wow you guys are channeling me, it seems. tkam is right, just get someting in the price range. I have the 520HX and I don't seem to remember if it has 2 6pin plugs because most new video cards require 2. If you are concerned with power/noise, I'd recommend the GTS 250. Granted, it's not the most powerful but it'll run oblivion fine. If you want something better, I'd try GTX 260 or 4870. One thing to watch for is Dell's terrible cases. Air flow in those tend to be terrible and may have some issues with GPU overheating. For hard drives, if for file storage, I'd HIGHLY recommend the WD GP drives as Fungi said. They are dead silent, reliable, low power, and plenty fast for file archival. If you plan to run apps off it, look somewhere else. DO NOT look to Seagate or Maxtor. Seagate fell off the boat with the .10 HDs. edit: saw that you were doing raid0. Probably means that you will be running apps/games. Ignore my WD GP advice.- True Blood
