  1. The next iPad. Well next after next after next ... * The iPad Is Step 1 In The Future Of Computing. This Is Step 2 (Or 3). * Though I still think the gloves and lack of portability will make a more direct derivative of iPad more likely even when this is a technical possibility.

  4. Looks like OS only at this point, but like the Zune, who knows? Can definitely see this gaining traction, but will the OS show growing pains with additional apps? Some more shorter vids here... Windows Phone 7 Series hands-on and impressions (updated with video) -- Engadget
  5. Played with the Nexus One again all holiday weekend. Damn nice. Hard to imagine anyone using one who wasn't a heavy Google apps persons, so in a sense it's almost as closed as the iPhone (heavily geared towards browser use over apps and Googles offering over others). If I wasn't in an iPhone contract and there weren't several essential (for me) missing apps, I'd consider switching because it's such a nice piece of hardware. We'll see if Apple catches up in hardware or Android in software first. Still fun competition. Even more so with the awkwardly named Windows Phone 7 Series phone prototype.
  6. On both sides of the debate, remember Apple fought labels rather publicly on keeping music prices artificially locked to a lower $.99 @track for quite a while, so there unfortunately is an inconsistency on Apples stance (as their is between the two markets). I'm not sure I'm against setting artificial pricing expectations before releasing it to the whims of the market. Would be nice if the cost savings of internet distribution is at least partially passed on to the public before publishers use 'convenience' as a reason to offset. Then again, over time lossy music files and label expectations have dropped back down to many offerings below $.99.
  7. Thanks for the feedback. Bought the iPhone version and testing the Android beta (on Nexus). Agreed much better than eithers browser.
  8. x2. It's certainly the camera I most want, though upcoming Olympus PEN E-PL1 should be a consideration too. Either body and a pancake lens would be so much more portable than most dSLRs.

  18. Picked up one of these with the all the disco lights. Has a decent Squeezebox-like UV meter screensaver, but multiple-line display mainly for iPod/iPhone nav.

  20. Thanks for the recommendations guys. Doesn't seem to be any additional content of the HD stations I listen to. And to be honest my local listening ends up being NPR mostly (was hoping for alt content like local PBS TV, but no). For music I'm usually streaming freeform WFMU from across the country off the iPhone. So iPhone navigation trumps. Skullguise, as I understand it that Sony home receiver has no way to turn off the HD Radio reception (and opt instead for the analog signal). Is that correct?
  21. Looks like they're rolling in some of the updates (including blocking) quickly. http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/millions-of-buzz-users-and-improvements.html
  22. No worries. There are a lot of businesses on Castro that haven't figured it out either.
