  1. a-ha - Hunting High and Low (1985)
  2. 1) go to google 2) type in: headamp ae-1 3) notice first result: http://www.headamp.com/reviews/ae1_edipisreks_08_05.pdf 4) read 5) ... 6) profit?
  3. Round 2. Virginal run-through was on the Maggies (during which it was tough to be critical whilst trying not to drool all over myself), now doin' it on the SR-X Mk.III/Pros. Gonna take quite a while for the sheer awesomeness of this one to wear off! Thanks stretch!
  4. I can't say I'm technically knowledgeable enough to tell whether something will sound great or not based on its design, but I have found going by weight pretty reliable actually! Figure it usually means moar beefy powar suppliez......
  5. Lessons a good idea...... I've been playing bass for 13 years and noodling on guitar occasionally for 5, fairly seriously the last year and a half... I've never taken lessons (nor can I read music or tab for that matter) and do everything by ear, but I'm sure I have tons of bad habits and am really eager to push past my current talent wall... my technique on bass is pretty good (developed by necessity during my Rush phase...) but on guitar I'm horrid! when I'm not stinking busy with work, getting some guitar lessons is high on my to do list......
  6. Priorities, priorities, priorities!
  7. Nice! Great sounding bass guitar on that parituclar Sighs track, tho if someone put a gun to my head and said I had to pick my fav off that album it'd have to be "Can't Reach You"... the last minute and a half or so is absolutely, ridiculously killer! I'm gonna throw that on now.
  8. v.cool! that's quite the album.
  9. matt came as soon as he heard!
  10. Fuckin' eh, this is delicious! edit: .........extremely delicious! edit2: ...........ridiculously delicious!!!
  11. I'm not super wild about some of these japanese mini-lp CD reissues of XTC... but the original release CD of Nonsuch is totally and completely unlistenable... this is still too compressed and top heavy... wish I knew of something better, this is a fabulous album.

    Top Gear

Agreed... only one I can think of where the three of them all do a trip in a car is in the Caravan Holiday bit (S08E06)
  13. Just finished this: and onto this: Haven't had more than a few hours at home in around a month, finally having a realy good Magneplanar blast session, needle on the X250.5 dancing around like an epileptic. Maggies aren't useless for rock... just get a pair of old IIIas, spend ~20x on your electronics what you spent buying the speakers used, move to a really shit apartment that has a really big living room just so you can fit the speakers, and finally spend the best part of a year tweaking room placement. Job done!
  14. Sweet! Not my favourite (Out of the Blue is!) but not bad. I find most of their albums a bit spotty really, while 80%+ of OOTB is great.
  15. .....don't see any picture which album? ELO has some pretty great stuff!
  16. Hit 25 this year in March, sort of feeling the same... maybe by 27. Happy birthday man!
  17. One of the best sounding close-miked multitrack recordings I've heard... still think DF's best was Nightfly, while Kamakiriad is too cheesy to even think about stomaching... WB's 11 Tracks of Whack the best Steely Solo by a country mile. Gonna throw that on now! edit: oh and for god knows what reason, Katy Lied is my fav SD album proper...
  18. but you can't see it through my helmet, compared to your hideous visage...
  19. beat ya to it
  20. I've owned a handful of Bryston amps (last was a 4B SST), and they definitely don't sound syrupy. More like this: i.e. fresh, crisp, COLD!!!
  21. thank goodness there's some sane (read: not cat) people around here... miss having a family dog. can't have a dog now due to lots of travel and apartment life... later...
