  2. Geez... RIP Glenn. He was one of the Eagles who actually had a lot of talent.
  3. Very sad news. I'm sorry to learn of your loss. It's been nearly 9 years since I lost my dad (to cancer as well) and in some ways, it feels like it was just yesterday. He will no doubt stay with you in the memories that you carry in your heart. May he rest in peace. Semper Fi, and much respect for his service. Just wanted to mention (since I was the one who started this thread way back when), that the "some fuck or another" in the thread title wasn't meant to be disrespectful at all. If you go back to read my opening post, you'll see the context and intent, and that it's really about acknowledging the contributions that many people in society have made to our lives, whether we knew them personally or not. With parents and other close family members and friends who we've recently lost, it's each person's call whether you think this is the right place, or you would prefer to have a dedicated thread. In any case, I think that is probably worth repeating every now and then since this has become such a long thread. But ya... fuck cancer, indeed.
  4. I hear ya. I'm just numb.
  5. Just saw this myself... so what now? The world without David Bowie? It just won't be the same. Tears. RIP.

  10. Lots of great pics here: http://brightside.me/article/100-best-photographs-without-photoshop-46555/?image=210605 Oh, and thanks for posting this pic. It's a good reminder to me that it's mere hyperbole when someone says "If you set your mind and heart to it, you can do anything you want to do." No, actually, I can't...
  11. Sound advice! http://www.theonion.com/article/economists-recommend-setting-aside-part-every-payc-51865
  12. Happy birthday, John!
  13. Great news, Larry! You sure were due for some great news! Ft. Collins is an awesome town, but then again so is Boulder. Remember visiting campus at Boulder for the first time in the early 80s, and was just walking around in the midst of it all when some dude ran up to me, talking really fast, like "speed, acid, cocaine, what do you need?" It kind of spooked me because he came out of nowhere, but I just kind of shook him off and said, "No thanks, man... not interested." Then I turned the corner and walked maybe the length of another building, and another dude approached me, trying to hand me one of those little green Gideons bibles. I told him, "No thanks, but there's this guy over there..." as I pointed to where I had just walked from. Don't know if they ever connected, and if so, who was more persuasive.
  14. Happy birthday, monkey man!
  15. One of my Facebook friends who lives here in Cayman just posted this pic with no sense of irony... although I think those green extensions go quite well with her outfit.
  16. RIP, Allen Toussaint, legendary New Orleans jazzy bluesy R&B singer, songwriter, producer... well, he really was hard to categorize. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/allen-toussaint-iconic-new-orleans-songwriter-and-producer-dead-at-77-20151110
  17. Happy birthday, guys!
  18. We just need to know if it sounds good, and you're just the man for that task! Enjoy.
