  1. Sao Paulo, Brazil. Power grid load. Almost 20 million people connected to that grid. Blue - typical day. Red - Cameroon vs. Brazil match. Half-time interval peak at 18:00. Eletropaulo discloses balance of energy consumption during the third game in the Brazil World Cup
  2. Long but detailed video: I want to apologize for posting about the solar road. At least I learned a bit more.
  3. Is this good? QUAD EL61/EL60 /EL34 /4699 PHILIPS METAL TUBES PERFECT MATCHED NOS
  4. Congratulations to USA. Natal Had Big Role for US in WWII.
  5. Who dives better? Fred or Diego Costa? Both Brazilians.
  6. I am not a specialist. It is certainly more expensive than tar. I thought they may have brought the revenue of energy produced to present value, accounted price reduction of solar cells with scale and maybe receive some public funds since there is no tar to absorb solar rays and increase heat island effect. Thank you for warning me it is a scam.

  8. Mullard matched quad el34's/6ca7 XF2test at 100% 1962 I do not know the seller. Knowledgeable people may say if it is a good deal.
  9. I don't have an oscilloscope. Thank you for pointing out that approach. This video may be useful:
  10. When trying to measure cable impedance, can one roughly use this instead of a TDR?

  12. Suppose there is no solar energy, thus no high voltage transistors. Can tubes be used as active devices in such auxiliary circuits? I have read about "tube current sources" in Millet article: http://www.pmillett.com/current_source.htm and http://www.pmillett.com/el34_active-load_(srpp)_amp.htm.
  13. This topic reminds me the economics of interdependence and peacemaking. While German companies invest in Chinese IP, Russia pulls space cooperation in response to Ukraine sanctions. One must like the multilateralism. It also reminds me Viktor Belenko, who defected in a MiG-25 to the United States via Japan. There was extensive use of vacuum tubes instead of semiconductors in that aircraft, but it is not clear if it was a sign of obsolescence or a deliberate choice. Dr. KG said that solar energy will retain the demand for high voltage semiconductors. Otherwise electrostatic amplifiers would face the same destiny of MIG-25: to rely only in vacuum tubes.
  14. Glad to know reliable gatekeepers have appropriate tools. In the coverage of latest Chesky binaural disk, Innerfidelity provides much deeper understanding than others. If I only had this level of information when I first tried to record my own binaural files...
  15. Is it possible to use a high voltage power relay for such function (http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/164/ftr-j2-967.pdf)?
  16. MOT label does work anymore. Labels do not work anymore. It happens everywhere. There was a time with war codes. Military used to wear uniforms. Civilians were preserved. International Red Cross could help people on field without any suspicious of the contenders. Then the hegemonic military power was attacked with surreptitious modes. There was a time with press gatekeepers. Press was then a fourth state for good and for bad. Internet brought voice to the masses. Some thought that would be good for everybody. Say people star relying just on consumer assessment. How a news enterprise would sell assessments to sustain it payroll and labs? Then the only counterpoint would be charity of well-educated people that leave their main activities to visit the fora to enrich the information. However, not matter how good it is their intention, the arguments of this knowledge warriors will be seen as arguments of authority, which can be believed or not, because people does not have access to test equipment or is willing to undertake a vast range of diy efforts, acquiring field experience. Anyway, considering the way the brain works interpreting the sensorial inputs, subjective assessment of civilian consumers may then prevail over such authority arguments. And those civilian consumers may be unfaithful or duly paid. There are humans everywhere, not matter they use uniforms or not, being journalist or simple consumers. No matter the arrangement or label, misconduct is always ongoing. The proliferation of sources without old fashioned authority labels make the information fuzziest than ever. What is unconceivable is hindering education and freedom of speech, because then misbehavior can’t be recognized. It is not so bad; internet also allows other fora, like head-case, to flow the critical thinking, although few people will be able to notice the difference. At least, I am preparing the basic stuff to enter the diy efforts, without test equipment… Perhaps then I will be able to contribute with field experience.
