  1. As for the GS-1000 doppleganger, I believe those are surround prototype cans from long while back.
  2. Same experience here. They've always sounded nice to me at meets (where I have to crank up the volume) but not so much when I sit down and listened to them at home. As for ear ringing, I personally would wait to listen to headphones till it goes away (and see a specialist about it if it doesn't go away).
  3. Congrats on your new toy!
  4. I've been wanting to try them for some time since I've been looking for a pair of closed cans, but their current going price is wee bit insane.
  5. FYI , United Home Audio Products is the only US dealer I know for Ergo headphones. I don't know exactly how much a new pair costs, though, since I bought mine used.
  6. SR-60 MS-1 K501 K271 KSC35 ER4S Ergo 2
  7. Not buying any - just curious about quad pots. Besides that thing costs as much as some amps.
  8. Aside from Alps RK-50, are there any quality quad potentiometers? I'm just curious if there are any others out there.
  9. Found the thread. http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=37079
  10. I remember reading in some old threads on HF that using Harrison Labs' attenuators degraded sound qualities, I've personally never used them, however. I'll see if I can dig up those threads. EDIT - and IIRC, it was a post by Hirsch that convinced me not to get them.
  11. The transport looks real nice, Nate - and it's a top-loader to boot! I wish I was getting a new source, too.
  12. Agreed.
  13. My girlfriend and I went to see it yesterday. We both though it was terrible as well. Thankfully, we went to a matinee showing so we only had to shell out an arm for the tickets.
  14. I think it's Lavry Gold, if I'm not mistaken.
  15. The first time I ordered an amp from Mikhail, it came in bit later (week or two) than the estimated time of delivery he gave me when I ordered the amp. When I subsequently had to send the amp back in for a repair and a minor upgrade, it came back within a month. This was about an year or two ago, though. I have a custom amp that I ordered sometime late last year that I'm waiting for, though some of the delays were due to my stupidity.
  16. I should have one coming in from him sometime soon(ish) as well.
  17. I think you guys saved me some money. Thanks.
  18. Ah, got it. Hmmm, choices, choices.
  19. Nate and thrice, thanks for the info. Now, is there any sonic benefit for 6 channel balanced configuration over 4 channel configuration?
  20. Thanks, Iron_Dreamer. Your impression gives me some reference for B22 since I used to own an upgraded Balanced Reference. I wonder how much it would cost to have a balanced B22 built. LOL.
  21. Iron_dreamer - how does B22 compare to your Balanced Reference?
  22. I've built this one as well, though I made one with 4 legs instead of 3. One of these days, I'm going to take mine apart and paint the shelves. Of course, I've been saying that I'll paint them since I made them a long while back.
  23. Here's hoping you getting one, Nate. That way, I'll be able to listen to it at a next local meet. I've been thinking of going back to using a stand-alone DAC, but I've got bunch of SACD's I love that makes doing so bit difficult.
  24. I like stepped attenuators, and I've had them in two amps I've owned in the past. However, one amp had 41 (or 43) steps, while the other one had 24 step one with 3-position gain switch.
