Yeah but Reks said I made the hole too big, and it kept falling off. So he sent it back for repurposing. Seriously though it was just a freehand turning to break in my new lathe. I did have in the back of my mind that it would end up in a stand, I just didn't know it would look like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Damn Smeggy! I'm going to start subcontracting work out to you! Those are seriously nice looking cups! How do the pads attach to the cups? Did you end up buying any of the little SFI orthodynamic drivers? If so I want to see what you come up with for wooden housing for them.

It's about 14" high x 14" across. The base is 2" thick solid Zebrawood to keep the stand stable. I believe the customer has a pair of Larry's Zebrawood Grados. I will not be able to make CanJam. Unfortunately I'll be overseeing the moving of an historical home onto the community center grounds. No way out of it. :'(

I think the Menace is the perfect name for this build. This thing is going to be intimidating for sure!

Some of you will remember my first turning on my new lathe that Vicki affectionately dubbed the Peppermill. Well the Peppermill has been repurposed, or should I say purposed. It's now part of a headphone stand for a Head-Fier that wanted a 4 phone stand. It's not finished yet, it still needs a few more coats of lacquer. I thought I'd post it though because it's rather unique looking.

Well if I put in just one episode of Charmed I'd be out like a light in no time at all. I've only gone 48 hrs. w/no sleep once. Toward the end of that span I got what I can only describe as a feeling of absolute clarity and the knowledge that everything in my life would work out OK. I was frantically writing things down thinking I may forget them once I slept, but I didn't, and that sense that everything would be OK has never dissipated in the 23 years that have followed since this incident.

Oh I've wanted to Slappa you on a couple occasions.

Me too, I'll be interested in trying it out. It'll simplify things for me, and take the job off of the Beta22's shoulders. It will also allow for hungrier speakers if I decide to quench my thirst for the AV123 Strata Mini.

I've agreed to build some Sennheiser open wood cups, and I'm wondering if anyone has a good source for stainless steel mesh? I'm thinking of using #12 mesh, and only need a small amount, about 1 sq. ft.

Nate what headphones are you planning on driving with this monster?

Do you have difficulties? I can give you a few pointers. I like to clamp the metal to a wooden sacrificial substrate, use a small drill bit to make a starter hole, and use only sharp hole saws. It also helps to use a drill press, but if one isn't available I use a big 1/2" drill with a handle. This one actually... The amp is looking great Nate!
