March Madness 2008
:'( I found out today for sure that I won't be able to make it. I'm overseeing the moving an historic house onto the site of the community center I'm remodeling, and it got bumped back right into the CanJam time slot. This sucks!

best headfi thread I have read in a long time!
His reviews are so lame anyway. He uses such vague terms, and basically posts whats already been said about an item. It would be really fun to totally screw with an amp, and have someone send it off to him for review without making him aware of the deed. Play it up as a fantastic amp, and then see what the review says.

Lathes are fun!
First I tried a wax product made for lathes. It looks like a semi sweet chocolate bar, and you rub it on the project as it's spinning, then buff it down with 0000 steel wool. I didn't care for the glossy sheen it had. I'm more of a satin finish kinda guy (no bling bling), so I went back to my tried and true 5 coats of hand buffed lacquer. It is nice to be able to sand the piece on the lathe though, and you can get a pretty good finish, but I still think a little hand sanding with the direction of the grain is needed for a museum quality finish.

Hah, it really does. Let's hope it makes a spicy headphone stand too.- Post the last thing you bought!
Yummm!- Lathes are fun!
So I set up my lathe last night, and was itchin' to get to it today. I had a piece of East India Rosewood hanging around in the shop, and with nothing really in mind set out to make some wood chips. What I ended up with will probably end up as a post for a multi headphone stand, most likely with 4 hangers attached to a hub mounted to the top of the post and a round thick base at the bottom.- Who here owned (or still owns) parachute pants?
Actually if I saw that guy on the street I doubt I could stop laughing long enough to be offended. I want my worst enemy to be reincarnated as that guys jean shorts. ewe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank God they didn't show the front, because you know that guy has serious male camel toe, and his balls have to be hanging out.- Who here owned (or still owns) parachute pants?
That's me damnit, be kind!!!- Post the last thing you bought!
Thanks! They remind me of a smaller version of your old Omegas tyrion. I saw jp11801's ad, but I haven't heard any single driver speakers yet, and I wanted to dive in small. If I like them I imagine eventually I'll end up with some larger Cain & Cain's. Although with my powered subs these may make me very happy? I only just came to an arrangement with the seller on A-gon, so I won't have these for a little while yet. That's fine, because my ?22 is at Marc's getting super tweaked. I have never heard any single driver speakers, so I can only guess as to what they may sound like. just thought that from everything I've read I may really enjoy them.- Who here owned (or still owns) parachute pants?

Double Bubble FTW!- AKG 340
If memory serves philodox made a pictorial of just that on HF. It's relatively simple though. Once I took mine apart it was kind of self explanatory.- Wood fans: Cherry vs. Oak
The gentleman does nice work then, and his prices are extremely reasonable. He must have a very efficient setup in his shop to keep the labor down.
