  1. run 8 for 24hrs run coretmp; it will give you the delta to Tjunction value (how close you are to total core meltdown, or its equivalent) 71 in chitown now means 81 during "taste of chitown" which means your 65 will become 70 or more (depending on how dusty your machine becomes). For your ambient temp I would shoot for sub 60
  2. just the right amount of computing power for itune Did you prime all 8 virtual cores for 24hrs with small FFTs ? What's your temp delta to Tjunction? 65 does sound high for 45nm core, especially when it's already super cold in Chitown (i.e. your ambient temp isn't that high)
  3. I had a semi-low serial numbered K701 (in the 4200s) before replacing it with the K501. I think K701 is trying to be too many things to too wide of a demographic. I thought K701 sounded great when I first got them (boy, did those glass breaking sound like they were next to me). However, over time I have come to realize I didn't reach out for K701 when I was actually listening to music. Not saying K701 is not musical, I just preferred other cans for the particular types of music I was trying to enjoy at any given moment.
  4. freq response of grados change depending on how you put them on your head. If you follow the Meier Audio method, the grado highs are almost complete gone, leaving you with a more neutral sound.
  5. Making copies of copyrighted material with an intent to mass distribute said material leaves a sour taste in my mouth. It's one thing to share copyrighted material for personal use; beyond fair use, mass distributing for the principal purpose of distributing to the general public is not kosher. I think losing the 3 drives was the best thing that could have happened to you, crappyjones123.
  6. only if you believe "good luck" was said in a sarcastic tone, unless it's a generally policy to add after phrase that began with "good luck with . . . " I and my colleagues have had it with Dell's famous Indian customer service reps. I tell ppl to avoid Dell if they can.

  12. yes, yes and yes. That's why I asked for a "range" so I know the min dB I need before babies can't hear it anymore (I wasn't clear in the title to say the min limit, I can understand why you assume limit automatically means "max")
  13. Find a lawyer! Try not to get ppl on the net to engage in unauthorized practice of law. Lawyer, Attorney, Law Firms, Attorneys, Legal Information. Lawyers.com (how can you possibly go wrong with Martindale-Hubbell and LexisNexis You can always call your state immigration bar and find a competent attorney. If you are poor, call your local law school and see if they have an immigration clinic (students will generally suck but the profs are usually very very good). If you are poor, but not poor enough to be taken by the clinic, you can call the immigration bar and see if there is any state-sponsored free-legal service.
  14. Congrats on the new amp! Beautiful Tannoy! Have you tried running your Tannoy using SS? I have heard Kensington w/o the super tweeter paired with Luxman 509u; and I must say I was completely floored by the transparency and the dynamics (there seem to be endless power behind the spkr during one of the busy passages in Mahler 3). SS bought back the scale of the performance. I am not sure you have a large enough room to really use more power, but at least it's something to keep in mind when you upgrade your listening space
  15. Want to play some classical stuff for the little one (get them started on hi-fi while they are young What's the range of dB (C-weighted) safe for babies < 6month?

  18. You should be able to successfully upgrade vista 32 to win7 32 assuming you followed the suggestions from win7 comparability diagnostic test. Win7 is, after all, just Windows 6.1 (vista is Windows 6.0).
