Neko Audio DAC
Erm, maybe a beta22? The headphone amplification forum has plenty of examples and the AKG K701/2 isn't very well liked here.

Empirical Audio USB Off-Ramp Turbo 2
Nope, he isn't, and he can't - otherwise he'd just make his own USB converter units async.

Empirical Audio USB Off-Ramp Turbo 2
Yes he is, but what does that have to do with the Tascam?

Empirical Audio USB Off-Ramp Turbo 2
Picked up something interesting on audiocircle: 24/96 async USB 2.0 solution with Pace-Car 2 It looks like the Tascam US-144 can be used as an async USB - SPDIF converter.

Turning One Headphone into another?
Stereo microphones, USB Microphones, Preamplifiers, Digital Recorders, Cables and more at Rock Bottom Prices from The Sound Professionals - Great deals on Microphone, Preamplifier, Digital Recorder, Cable and more! The link here says he has to. Ok, maybe he doesn't have to but I'm not sure how you'd mount them otherwise.

Turning One Headphone into another?
Wait, aren't those mics you're using also going to record the response of your pinna? I doubt that those convolver response charts will work with anyone else in that case.

getting a Parasound D/AC-1100
Thats one packed board, the DAC-2000's board is quite sparse by comparison.

Repair and restoration of my STAX SRA-12S
Interesting stuff Since the SRM-1mk2's maximum output is also 380Vrms, maybe they have identical amplification sections?

I have no idea why people think O2 pads are difficult to install. It takes me no more than 5 minutes for each pad nowadays.

AKM 32bit Dac
I'm guessing that the Zapfilter works better as a current buffer for V-out DACs rather than an I/V converter for I-out DACs.

AKM 32bit Dac
You could try the Sabre DAC (perhaps in voltage mode) with the Zapfilter.

Investigation into possible mods for the Stax SR-404
I didn't really "damp" mine properly though - I just stuffed a little tissue between my ears and the drivers. The bass is very much present with the amount of damping I'm using. No BHSEs here Do you think one of Stax's hybrid amps will cut it? Or perhaps the Poor Man? Even without the etch, the lambda sig sound still isn't really my thing. I much prefer the "round-driver" based Staxen, and the SR-5NB (RIP) was my "go-to" headphone when I'm looking for a little excitement. It looks like the filter material used in air-conditioners.

Investigation into possible mods for the Stax SR-404
My Lambda Pro with 404 drivers was really midrangey and not shrill at all, so I'd expect these to be more mellow if the drivers were replaced. Wasn't the 1um film notorious for being shrill-sounding? Maybe the SRM-X Pro is just a crappy amp >_> Anyway, I found that I only needed a half of the tissue paper I used before to tame the midrange etch to tolerable levels. A double-layered piece of tissue paper took away too much of the bass for my liking.

Yahoo!??? The SR-404 Limited is available now.

Investigation into possible mods for the Stax SR-404
Speaking of Lambda Sigs, I've stuck some tissue paper into my pair I still don't think they suit me, but at least they don't sound like drillbits in my ears.

Empirical Audio USB Off-Ramp Turbo 2
Nope, Empirical Audio isn't async... yet. They're planning to provide async converters sometime this year though. If they were async I'd seriously consider getting a set. They have the hardware, but its the firmware that's the hard part. Chances are they'll license the async firmware from Wavelength Audio.

Empirical Audio USB Off-Ramp Turbo 2
In fairness to Empirical Audio, they aren't using the PCM270X stuff most people (including the HagUSB) are using, but the TAS1020. Benchmark also uses the same chip for the DAC-1 USB, but they aren't charging that much of a premium, are they... Hmm, so does the M-audio Transit apparently.

New RSA amp...
You'll have to include the liquid helium/nitrogen cooling vats too
