Funky German Headphone Stand.
That contour would fit the O2 quite nicely...

Did he finally get someone who will mod the amp to accept better tubes?

Ah, Carl has one of those I think. I'm not sure if he's finished with the repairs.

They've replied on my second try. Did you try to contact them via that form they had on their website, or through [email protected]?

Stax SR-007 + ??? amp
Generally the pricier amps swing more voltage and can handle more current... or thats what I hear anyway. I wouldn't say that the SR-007 is particularly BAD on the T1. Even with the T1S supposedly holding it back, it handily trounces everything else I have (SR-X Pro, SR-Xmk3, SR-3, Lambda Sig). Ok fine that wasn't reaally relevant but the T1 is relatively cheap for an O2 amp.

How long does EIFL typically take to send a reply? I was completely ignored the last time I asked for an O2 cable :/

I guess either the contacts inside the driver have oxidised to hell, or the cable has. You wouldn't know a way to remove the bolts that hold the driver together in a relatively safe fashion, would you?

Anyway, what are the differences between the SR-3 and SR-3N (I think I've gotten the older SR-3)? And is the SR-3 meant to be particularly inefficient? (The volume I'm using for the SR-3 is almost 2x what I'd use for the SR-X)

They are, sort of. The right channel is a lot softer, thats all. I can adjust for it on the amp, and hope it doesn't deteriorate I guess. I meant to transplant my SR-5 drivers into them, which should work fine since they both share the same enclosure design.

Ah, there was a screw underneath it all after all. I was hoping to get inside the driver to reseat the membranes or something, to fix this imbalance but it turns out the driver is next to impossible to take apart.

Digging. Using an ear wax remover though xD Lets see... I'm roughly up to the depth where i should see a screw but there isn't one in sight. Looks like someone's decided to fill one of the screw holes with this paste =_= RARRGH (needs the enclosure for other drivers) I feel like dropping some acetone on the paste to dissolve it, but I'm going to end up dissolving the plastic as well aren't I >.>

I can't rotate the halfs with the other two screws out. Its like there's another screw (screwed on quite tightly) underneath the white stuff. The paste is relatively soft.

I just bought an SR-3, and there's this white paste or something where the 3rd screw should be. How do I take this thing apart now?

Single Power amps & tube adapters
I can picture what that might look like Franken-T1 would be fun but it certainly isn't something I want to lug around too much. I'm not very well versed in electronics, but from the spec sheets I don't see any difference in the 6CG7 and 6SN7's heater requirements (both use 6.3V 0.6A), and the 6SN7's voltage ratings look better if anything (450V max dc plate in class A vs 300V max for the 6CG7) The spec sheets I'm refering to: http://boozhoundlabs.com/howto/pdf/6SN7GT.pdf www.cicognani.eu/pdf/Tubes/6cg7ge56.pdf

Single Power amps & tube adapters
Aww, pity I found a 7n7 to 6CG7 adapter on ebay (Adapters 7N7 TO 6CG7 tubes amplifier SUB - eBay (item 250459037219 end time Sep-03-09 17:34:26 PDT)) and was interested in a swap.

So... all of the 6SN7 equivalents (7n7, 5692) will definitely work in the SRM-T1, right? What exactly did you mean by watching the filament current?

Estats aren't going to emit radio waves so I doubt that there's any chance of that happening (they aren't going to cause cancer the same way handphones _might_, at least). But then again, people have managed to link high voltage power lines to cancer and stuff like that, so...

Symphones "MAGNUM" pre-order and discount
Have you guys considered doing this for more headphones? ie non-grados? I'm sure an aluminium enclosure will go nicely with my gamma pro drivers Or the HE60 drivers I've had for a while.

That sounds a lot more like a quantum mechanic wavefunction rather than an amp Please don't troll us, if you can help it.

Starting up on acousic guitar - brand recommendations?
Good thing the internet has pretty pictures that tell me what the correct fingerings are I'm using guitar.about.com's guitar lessons, and I'm up to lesson 5 or so.

Starting up on acousic guitar - brand recommendations?
*cough* I'm a beginner and I'm starting on an electric (but I started doodling on a classical first) I use mine with a Tascam US-144 as an amp replacement. I don't think I'm going to take any professional lessons for a while (can't afford them), so are there any "usual" pitfalls I should avoid? I might have some guitar playing friends give me lessons every now and then though.
