  1. My parents have an old pair of B&W 802 Series 80 speakers. I've read that these are still considered pretty decent, but I'm concerned about the condition these are in. I'd like to replace parts like the binding posts and maybe parts of the crossovers. How difficult is this type of thing? Could an advanced beginner DIYer do it? The speakers look like this (these aren't the actual speakers):
  2. Looks like a coiled cord. blech.
  3. Discuss.
  4. But...but...it looks like a Bel Canto...
  5. Didn't know where else to put this, but for the Joy Division fans: Rare Joy Division pics.
  6. The Giants defense had a very odd game.
  7. That sounds gross....and I would like to try it.
  8. Actually that looks exactly like the way the audio guys wired my parents' house.
  9. Ah, that make sense now. Thanks for the clarification.
  10. I didn't consider the two-pronged cable, which is a good idea. I have an external HD that does that. However, I needed the hub anyway as I would have run out of ports.
  11. I got an HRT Music Streamer II for my parents Mac Mini. Just needed a cheap DAC and wanted one that didn't need a power supply. In theory, this DAC fits the bill. In practice, that's not the case. For anyone out there considering the HRT, be forewarned that you very likely will need to run it off a powered USB hub. It appears to simply draw to much power to run reliabily out of a 'puter's USB ports. There are a bunch of posts about this on the internets, but I figured I'd give a heads up here, too.
  12. Thanks for your help, gang. I ended up getting a new hub. But it really is a pain in the ass when you misplace a wallwart, isn't it? Based on this thread, it seems like you really need to replace it with the same voltage rating, but can go with higher current rating, is that a fair summary?
  13. Stop posting long enough to read the welcome PM you received.
  14. Darren McFadden sat on my bench while scoring 1,079 points.
  15. Great first post.
  16. fucking electricity. Thanks guys. Much appreciated, as always.
  17. Yeah, I plan to get a new hub, but I'm at my parents' place in East Hampton and will get gouged. Would a 9V wall wart be a bad thing? I basically don't understand how these numbers work... By the way, the unpowered HRT Music Streamer is a piece of shit because it basically needs to be run from a powered USB hub. Fuckers.
  18. I have a powered USB hub that I'd like to get up and running. However I don't have the wallwart for it. The input is marked DC 7.5V 2.1A. If I can't located the original wall wart, what rating range would be acceptable to use with this thing? Or does it have to be specifically 7.5V 2.1A?
  19. Thanks Greg, but i was pretty good about the stretching. I'm just a fat out of shape bastard and the class was hard. My quads feel like they no longer are in control of my legs. I need painkillers. Now! Regardless, I'm going back next week.
  20. I wonder if that supports or refutes Gruber's argument:
  21. 48 hours later and I am sore as all hell. But I really want to go back. Maybe I have found something I'll actually stick to....
  22. Not on your iPhone, bitch!
  23. Just downloaded the FaceTime beta. Looks pretty good. It would be pretty awesome if they could do FaceTime conferencing so you could have multiple friends on video chat. Virtual Meet anyone?
  24. Hopping on the chartreuse bandwagon: Everyday rye: Cognac: After all that exercise yesterday, this all seemed like a fine and healthy idea.
