That's a pretty interesting/insightful observation. I have the audio-gd loaner DAC in my rack right now and based on some very limited comparisons, it sounds more laid back than the PWD, which surprised me. I didn't think the PWD was that forward (which in some ways I think of as "hot"), but maybe it is. And I tend to prefer that more forward presentation. Still early, though, and the exact difference is really hard to articulate.

Except that there are so many injuries now, that guys 3rd on the depth chart are now getting big playing time. Brutal league.

Yeah, I can see the probs with online backup. Certainly not a first resource. The NAS and Drobo solutions are still pretty expensive. Since I have 2 enclosures already, I guess I can just get 2 new 2TB drives and jam them in those. I can't find any naked 3TB drives.

I think the Pico Slim's volume control is better in terms of absolute control, but I also liked the volume rocker on the TTVJ. Matter of preference I think. The form factor of the Pico Slim is, imo, much better.

Like manaox, I also have no idea what those sound like, but I would have to think you can do better. Used Senn HD650 for starters. But, yes, Stax is the correct answer.

Went to Governors Island for Oktoberfest, which was a clusterfuck from an organizational perspective. They should be ashamed of themselves. But all was ok in the end--I mean, I did get to have a chicken & waffles cupcake.

Perhaps you guys can assist me with what might be a very stupid question. I can't seem to locate any indication as to which is the right and which is the left earcup on my 'pants. Is there an easy/obvious way to tell?
