  1. I wonder if a hearing society would consider a research grant for such a thing.
  2. Review attached. amarra..pdf
  3. Here's the review. Neko..pdf
  4. Looks great Dan!
  5. Monkeys dig flappers.
  6. Nate and Knuckles, sorry to hear the news. Sending good vibes. Also, Nate, you could probably just go in there yourself and solder up that knee with some UPOCC and some nylon filament and be good as new.
  7. Amarra reviewed in The Absolute Sound this month. Bottom line: indispensable provided that your equipment is high-end enough.
  8. Congrats to Wes on an excellent (and well-deserved) review in this month's The Absolute Sound.
  9. This is a nice idea. Wish I had done it for my previous DACs. I'll do it for the ones I currently have unpacked. It would also be interesting to compare to the manufacturer's published specs for the source.
  10. It would be perfect if it had a digital audio line out.
  11. Typical BS like teh internets, email, calendar, photos. Other stuff: Light MS Office stuff, Music (ability to be music server as well as straight player), watch movies, hop on my parents' networks because they always screw them up.
  12. Excellent! Make sure they're exactly right in terms of fit; it makes all the difference in the world. And post pics.
  13. well played, Dan.
  14. Can someone explain this impedance issue to me? I'm not tech savvy enough to glean the nature of the problem from the above discussion.
  15. I like that. No sense beating around the bush.
  16. I'm wondering if I want a Netbook and an iPad instead of an iPad and a...MBP.
  17. Ah, the 'stats have claimed another victim. Eggggsellent. Details!
  18. The 307a is badass.
  19. Did she also have the curry?
  20. Will these Tablii Tabletses be available at Best Buy? (I may be able to use cc points.)
  21. My son just asked me "What's so funny?"
  22. When will it find its way into big amps?
  23. I guess all along I have expressed a desire that the JH13 had a touch more bass. The TTVJ Portable fixed that for me. But it is a somewhat softer presentation, so while the detail is there, it's a bit more lush. The Slim, on the other hand, seems to have more of the HeadAmp sound. Very clean, very detailed (not bright), and lots of slam in the bass. But where the TTVJ is more "rounded" in its presentation, I found the Slim more "angular"--sorry I'm feeling inarticulate. Bottom line: for those who thing the JH13 have plenty of bass, then I think the Slim is going to make them very very happy. Mid-fi types like myself may want to find something that gooses that midbass a bit. Also, this is all based on a very short time with the Slim, so I look forward to receiving my production version for further listening. Again, I can't believe how much I love the volume control. It is simply outstanding and, IMO, represents a real step forward in ampdom.
  24. If Jim's getting the 3G, then so am I. Unless I just get a MBP.
