  1. that is the cast input. you remove the 1k resistor and ground the I+ and i- i will relabel as cast soon. i published the balanced output/cast board this morning. 2 input boards, 2 output boards, step attenuator and relay input/output board and you have a full unbalanced/balanced/cast input/output preamp
  2. jumper J1? on what? +/-24V is going to be pretty low for uber2. Should work, but much lower power.
  3. the balanced version is what is shown times 2. so the balanced input impedance would be 20k.
  4. jj (formerly tesla) tubes, no plate cap, so none of the NOS versions without modification sockets and really, a pentode as an otl output? sounds similar to rkv sure, why not.
  5. actually this amp is a V to I stage.
  6. http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/stepattenuator2.jpg fuck that's tiny
  7. Roomba is an expensive toy. And then it breaks. Then the battery dies. Rinse and repeat. Very bad waste of $450. My dogs also don't like it.
  8. a web page accessable by any device is what i really want. android or ios specific seems way too much work. then the touchscreen for those moments when you have to get out of the couch.
  9. Just got this information Pow Chu Moy passed away February 12, 2016 Very Sad.
  10. better to see the high speed electrons...
  11. thats an extra board if you want to do surface mount jfets
  12. I have a massive pile of silver mica caps, 50+ years old, still perfect. And an even bigger pile of .1% resistors, also 50+ years old, and definitely still perfect. but electrolytics over 10 years old are definitely a bad idea.
  13. congo5 wants me to make the output transistor mounting holes an additional .1 inch, so there will be another board rev. board will be .2 inches bigger, so might slightly influence price.
  14. if JC actually believed they did any good, they would have been installed in the Blowtorch preamp. Or the Constellation Audio stuff. Or any of the other stuff he has designed. guess all the expensive dinners and a ride in the Bentley were all just a friendly thing.
  15. yep, that would work. definitely for next time.
  16. pre-reg driver on the uber2 output board
  17. the coupler needs to be .25 inch on one side and 8mm on the other side. you will have to take a standard coupler and drill out one side.
  18. output inductors means circuit is unstable. and the bybee stuff means the entire thing is a piece of crap.
  19. well it only really makes a difference if you have a dac with significant amounts of dc offset. otherwise who cares.
  20. that is a good question. i'm not really sure of the answer, why not build both and let us know if it sounds any different. however using the input board gives much more common mode rejection. At least 10db, probably closer to 15
  21. depends on how much heatsink you have. 150mv is a good starting point
  22. I would go with the new input board above, and then 2 x cfa2 output boards per channel.
  23. With a sine wave generator driving the amp, would make a perfect tig welder. Change the frequency to control bead size.
  24. uberamp will drive anything i can think of. no protection circuits of any kind, and just about unlimited current capability.
