  1. Bring back Mullards. (or is that mallards- I'd better duck for cover).
  2. The Queenslanders here in OZ called their local beer XXXX because they can't spell beer.
  3. I think that if the headphone companies built better headphones, then amps that are wire-with-gain would sound better than the present situation where a synergy exists between a headphone and an inferior amp. Pipe dream? most probably. Until the headphone manufacturers use the best wire-with-gain amps we will continue having the problem that now exists. We really have no real idea what amps most companies use to voice and test their phones. It would be interesting to find out what Stax amp Stax used to test and develop the SR009, and what it would have been if they used the BHSE as their test rig.
  4. That's the spirits.......
  5. You don't get rattles with silicon...... just rattled.
  6. What's your point of reference? Where was the other voltmeter probe connected to?
  7. You really need a HV probe th check the bias voltage as the meter is a big drain on the supply. Normal voltmeter is about 10 megohms load. Since the bias supply has a 5 megohm resistor in series, this causes a voltage drop of about a third due to the loading of the muiltimeter. You are better off checking the bias voltage on the other side of the 5 megohm resistor.
  8. Gimme that cold hard silicon.
  9. YAY...! about time, John.
