BSG reruns. Last two episodes of season three- Crossroads Part 1 and 2. Awesome (can't stop watching and I have a huge paper due tomorrow )

When I heard them there were no grill covers on any of the drivers, so I'm not sure if there is normally a grill cover for the tweeter or not. I agree room acoustics have a huge impact to with the final sound. I'm definitely going golden ratio 16/26/10 for my room (getting the ceilings that height will be the hardest part, if the room is on the ground floor).

But I'm pretty picky when it comes to dropping ten large or so They just sounded like generic audiophile speakers type A, where everything is played back in that cold lifeless manner. I remember putting on Tristania's newest CD (pretty compressed) and going, what the fruit They weren't even particularly detailed. But they sounded "ok" with generic audiophile test discs and stuff, which is what the dealer was trying to woo me with. But I agree they look gorgeous (everything JMLabs does).

How would you describe the 1027Be? The 37 was just bleh, typical audiophile type sound.

And this is why I love prog Neil you should check out The Pineapple Thief (if you haven't done so already). Modern prog band, though their two most recent albums are a bit too straight forward. Variations on a Dream is probably their best album.

You need to look in the really obscure places for cheap HP-2's.

The 1037Be is ok at playing back music, nothing much else going for it really. But it can't capture the emotion of a good performance.

And of course Necronomicon isn't on the list

After hearing better gear I just couldn't do it headphone wise. Lots of ok sources (EMU0404usb) and very good amps (M^3) under $500, but not any headphones I could live with.

Hey markl good to see you here. Have you thought about hearing a B22 in your system? Since people are always keen to loan you gear, you should try tracking one down (I have not heard one yet) Haven't heard the Denons, but cashing in on the R10 is probably smart, not a big fan either.

I normally don't care for Pitchfork, but I feel the reviewer nailed The Drift in this review. Much better than I could have put it. http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/record_review/23262-the-drift There is a lot of stuff I listen to that I'd never recommend to people unless I really knew their taste in music (experimental, avant-garde, free jazz, improv, etc) but I really feel that The Drift is something that I'd tell any of my friends to try and hear at least once regardless of where their taste in music lies

Listen at night with all the lights off I recommend the HD650, I believe postjack feels the same way. As far as Massive Attack, Mezzanine is the only album I can really get into by them (but I understand why people like their other stuff).
