  4. Easy tiger, this is chekhonte, and I think his suggestion is perfectly valid.
  5. yeah, thats my question. the rs-1 is quite warm with flats, but not bright.

  10. yup I meant lossy. my current foobar: I love being able to browse by folder structure, it makes controlling the appearance of my album library much simpler.
  11. but rubbing a wet palm on the belly does take the place of showering.
  12. Hey deepak, how about a fully loaded KAB SL-121M5GSE? Just wait and see, curved tonearms and detachable headshells will make a comeback.
  13. Tom, I think Stephen wanted to keep this to jazz albums.
  14. Good news everyone! I got in my Cinemag SUT, and I also found a box of old Melos tubes in the top of my closet. I rolled in some Bugle Boys and am loving the synergy between these components. Very, very rich and lush, I haven't heard sound this lush in my system in some time. Maybe even too lush, but at least for the time being its fun, like rich chocolate icing over yellow cake before the tummy ache begins. The entire soundstage still manages to be surprisingly aggressive and upfront, whether I am listening with the 22Ls or 12LAs, and there is not even a hint of the DL-103's brightness. I definitely love this cart, SUT, and phono. Lots of good stuff in my rack these days. More listening to do.
  15. lol. actually there was a super cheapie one at wal-mart that did OK. i've tried tons of those and none of them worked well except that cheapie wal mart one. can't remember what it was called. even it sucked though really.

  18. Nah, I think the K701 actually do do lack bass.
  19. Funny, I was just coming here to say the same thing. Great deals!
  20. i don't get much of a thrill out of chasing down spendy NOS tubes. i did that for a while last spring and ended up feeling like a sucker-turd for doing so.
  21. Got in the Seduction today. No SUT until at least thursday, so I swapped out headshells (once again, Technics for the win. I love having multiple carts on hand, prealigned for quick install) and went from the DL-103 to the AT440MLa so I could go ahead and give the Seduction a listen. Wide open, warm sound, lifelike midrange, very detailed without being too neutral or boring. The brightness of the AT440MLa is greatly reduced, which is a surprise. While I have always respected this cart, I am seeing now that it scales remarkably well with a better phono. My one complaint at this point is the bass is a little muddy and lacking definition. When the midbass punch is nice, its real nice, but so far its not always nice. Looking forward to seeing out the cinemag + DL-103 combo fares with the Bottlehead.
  22. The HD600 is basically an HD580 with metal grills and supposedly slightly better matched drivers (both phones use the same drivers). I owned both and can't claim to have heard much of a difference between the two.
  23. Funny, I thought I meant Cisco. guzziguy, its also available at musicdirect and elusive disc and any other vinyl store worth its salt. FWIW the Acoustic Sounds paper catalog is the best catalog ever in history. I get very excited when one shows up in my mailbox.
