Oh I've been here and there and what have you. Downstairs now waiting for the doors to open.
  2. Actually a taller arc and straighter bends above the housing might help my problem. Thanks spritzer, I'll give it a shot. Thanks elephas as well for your reply.
  3. Hey stax fans- I noticed an issue last night with the OII in regards to my headshape. I have a large and unfortunately very "long" head height-wise. This makes phones like grados or lambdas very comfortable on my head, but pretty much anything with a "one size fits all" elastic strap based fitting system just doesn't work out for me. The strap always ends up digging painfully into my head. In the short term its fine, but long listening sessions always result in discomfort and a literal headache, which makes appreciating a headphone's aural merits impossible. I haven't really noticed the severity of this issue until last night, when I listened for about three hours after a long day at work. Does anyone have any tips on increasing the elasticity of the headstrap, or otherwise making its downward pressure less? If not, I sure hope I like the sound of the 4070.
  4. DDS is hard, like old school RPGs. gamefaqs.com is your friend with this one.
  5. Nice, nocturne is legendary. I never played it, but I played DDS and it was amazing.
  6. No room you say? Tyll, you can just mail me the check. You have my address on file.
  7. ah shitballs. thanks for the heads up, i might have to do that. sorry about my wallet indeed.
  8. here's a question. I didn't know that the desktop headphone amp had preouts. Has it always had preouts, or is this a new feature for the audiophile desktop system? Looking at pictures of the balanced desktop amp, I don't see any preouts. Can it be had with preouts? Just throwing these out there. Preout functionality on the hr gear is pure win.
  9. I think it all looks snazzy as hell, but pricey. Having said that, I'm a sucker for brand continuity in a rig, so this is appealing to me. Those desktop stands look great, they'd do well with my 12Ls. I look forward to spending some time with this setup in a couple days.
  10. Cool, I forgot about the cheaper 33 1/3s. I might pick RTL up then.
  11. the reviews at sh.tv are poor. They say the overall sound is thin and lacking bass. They keep saying the DCC of RTL is "richer". I probably won't be buying if these reviews keep up. I'll just hunt down original vinyl issues. I already have the megaforce Kill Em All and it rocks.
  12. happy birthday! i like both of you.
  13. Just preordered Portishead "3".
  14. welcome to headcase jeff!
  15. Artist: Drive-By Truckers (Mike Cooley) Album: The Dirty South Song: "Carl Perkins Cadillac" Life ain't nothing but a blending up of all the ups and downs Dammit Elvis, don't you know You made your Mama so proud Before you ever made that record, before there ever was a Sun Before you ever lost that Cadillac that Carl Perkins won Mr. Phillips found old Johnny Cash and he was high High before he ever took those pills and he's still too proud to die Mr. Phillips never said anything behind nobody's back Like "Dammit Elvis, don't he know, he ain't no Johnny Cash" If Mr. Phillips was the only man that Jerry Lee still would call sir Then I guess Mr. Phillips did all of Y'all about as good as you deserve He did just what he said he was gonna do and the money came in sacks New contracts and Carl Perkins' Cadillac
  16. I actually liked Toby a little bit more before his character was developed. He was perfect as the emotionless corporate human resources guy, and his complete apathy with regards to Michael's perpetually awful comments about him was hilarious.
  17. ooh, I want black and white ebony.
  18. nate, what kind of volume pot options do you have available for this amp when it goes into production?
  19. they better all be low serial numbers, so I can sell mine for a sweet profit.
  20. very pretty. i'm assuming that really they are just stock 325i's in a pretty box? either way I'll be keeping my eye on this auction.
  21. Nice. I believe I am the sole GS1000 proponent on HC. I think they are excellent but flawed, but having said that I believe almost every headphone is flawed in some way. They excel at very flat, neutral recordings, like soundboards, or old unfutzed with soundboard sourced tapes, or mic-on-stage soundboard patches. Despite the recessed midrange, vocals and guitar plucks come across as very lifelike and natural. I also love the way they present live drums. Classical typically sounds good with them. I particularly like them with solo piano. Some say they do well with jazz, but I still prefer the rs-1 with jazz since so many horns are to bright on the gs1k. What the gs1k does for me is compliment the rs-1 well.
  22. well he'd been thinking about it for a long time.

    DCD on DSD

the sacds are coming in june: i'm not a 5.1 guy, but I bet some aggressive 5.1 mixes on these in a dark room would be SUPER cool.
  24. another great episode tonight. ryan was awesome tonight, I loved it. whatever the line was about the inevitability of nuclear war and return to the tribal warfare system was beautiful. and the thing with toby was hilarious as well.
