  1. shit, great deal on the HP-2! this would have to come up at the same time as that other thing in the secret place.
  2. http://www.naim-audio.com/products/supernait.html Integrated Amp (80wpc) with built in DAC. A multitude of digital and analog inputs. Price tag ~$5000. Out of my league but looks like fun. Anybody here heard one?
  3. Me too. I was just talking about this with someone this weekend, about why I don't where hats. I expressed it just like you did in the quote.
  4. nice pic! you both look happy. i have a big head to, which greatly affects my affinity for Grados. RS-1s with flats are about as comfortable as it gets for me. I did have some comfort issues with the HP2 though, mainly due to the weight.
  5. Yup! But really it was fun adjusting and learning about the phones.
  6. I think I've got the final bend completed: 1) sharp inward hooks on the bend right above the housings to hook the driver under my ear 2) stretch the overall headband flat so I get a wider, gentler arc to accommodate my wide head (this is the new part, previously I'd been trying to tighten the arc) 3) aim the creases in the pads right around where my glasses frames sit on my head Viola, it appears I have the perfect fit. Getting this headphones adjusted right was quite frustrating. At times it reminded me of learing to setup a vinyl rig, and though it certainly wasn't as neurosis-inducing as that, the payoff is similarly satisfying. Comfy but snug fit, lovely complex bass, beautiful midrange, precise and non fatiguing highs.
  7. wonderful album.
  8. yay NOFX.
  9. thats three pannies.
  10. thats what i use in my HT, its a good receiver.
  11. The VP is a great way to enjoy the feel of an FP without sacrificing convenience. The only qualm some people have is the clip placement, which can be troublesome if the user doesn't employ a traditional tripod grip.
  12. I'm using my Pelikan M205 demo today. IMO the M200 series is one of the best bargains in modern fountain pens. I'm also packing my MB149 and Danitrio Mikado in black urushi.
  13. On my iPhone so its hard to link, but do a search on amazon for "caffeine gum", its the stay alert military grade gum.
  14. case of sugar free bawls 5 packs of milspec caffeinated gum
  15. yeah thats how it starts. i need to scrounge up some cash for those new MFSL Metallica 45s.
  16. Fantastic! GotM is great if a bit obtuse, but the next book, Deadhouse Gates, is pure win. But in GotM, don't you meet Kruppe? I love Kruppe.
  17. dusty, the Dresden books are great fun, I've read about the first four. I'm currently reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy. This book is terrifying in its totality of vision, the most pure & horrific post apocalyptic tale I've yet come across. I'm not finished yet, but I can already give this book my highest recommendation.
  18. apologies for selling you a dud pair cosmo! I'll definitely check out a pair at canjam. Will voltron's be there?
  19. really? i'm honestly shocked. i quite enjoyed the sound of the 357 when I owned it, though it was lacking in all the areas that ultrasones are, namely midrange and tonality. basically it sounded exactly like it was described in reviews i'd read. i'd be interested to hear another pair at canjam, but I'd also be interested to know what exactly made 357 a dud.
  20. I've never heard the L3000, and am a fan of the HP1000, but I'd say get the L3000, just for the fun of living with a new can.
  21. Good flick.
  22. Stax amp question: I might find myself in need of a normal bias Stax amp in the not to distant future. This amp will be used to power my SR-Lambda. An additional pro bias output is a plus, just for flexibility's sake. Price range is ~$500, but I'm not married to that price, and would like to hear all my options. There's a nice list of discontinued amps on the Stax Earspeakers Wiki, but its hard to discern what the quality choices are in those amps. Thanks!
