    RS1's?

Wow thanks for the offer but my short time here is going to be completely booked. I would jump on it other wise!

    RS1's?

I was thinking that too. I also find it suspicious when people try and sell old grado's with out even bringing up the condition of the "Y" part of the cable.

    RS1's?

I didn't notice it before but larryminator's add for his over priced rs-1's has been up for 2 months now. I hope his dogged persistence isn't rewarded.

    RS1's?

wow, so many opinions. I guess that does mean that I should audition them. I'm going back to champaign IL to visit family this week and I know they have a store there that sells grado headphones. Last time i went there 4 years ago they didn't carry the RS1 but that might have changed by now. I may go up to chicago too and there must be a place that has them there. EDIT: one things that's nice about buying used is that you're only out the cost of shipping.

    RS1's?

Or perhaps the flexibility of the material that makes up the transducer changes over time. Who the hell knows. I'm at such a loss as to what to do that it's silly. yeah, that's good advice. I feel the pull of hype and it sometimes makes me loose sight of what is reasonable. I'm going to set on this decision until i get back from vacation in late august. Please feel free to throw in your 2 cents, all of your input is albeit dumbfounding to me, it's also enlightening somehow at the same time.
  6. Maher, if you ever decide that you don't line the flat pad then I'd buy them off of you. Just send me a PM or email.

what is the typical price range of brown headband rs1's--or perhaps to phrase it better what would you consider a fair price?

    RS1's?

it's troubling tha if he does sell them, that he might raise the value of these phones.
  9. happy birthday!
  10. I also have a horrible sense of style but take the opposite stance as you have. I only buy t-shirts in the children's section of the goodwill and value village. I figure that I'll never look good but I can look so ridiculous that it may flip back around to cool. I'm currently wearing a highschool band shirt from a school I've never heard of with a panther playing a trumpet on the front.

    RS1's?

I think I may give the canadian over on headfi that's trying to sell his brown leather pair for 1200 an offer of $900. I doubt he'll do it but it's worth a shot.

    RS1's?

ah...so that's what the gold lettering looks like on a pair of rs1's.
  13. God I remember bugle boy tried so hard to be cool but only dork holes wore them at my school. I was really into varnet when I was in junior high but then again I was a huge dork hole.

    RS1's?

why don't these have gold lettering? Are they not real vintage? FS: Vintage Grado RS-1 with wooden box PRICE DROP - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio Does anybody have a pic of the gold lettering of which you speak? Edit: Shit, now there are a pair of msPros for sale used. They never come up. Unfortunately there are so few impressions of them and in those few the reviewer seems to always slightly prefer the RS1. Man oh man having spare money sure does stink!

    RS1's?

That's it, I'm downgrading to 2 tin cans attached with string.
  16. that is a great find knuckledragger.

    RS1's?

Thanks for sharing your experience. It would seem that most people that have owned the ms2i and the rs1 feel that the rs1 is more enjoyable to listen to. I think I'm going to try and pick a pair up if I see a used pair. Do the vintage RS1's really go for around a grand these days?! I thought that they were only aruond 100 dollars more than an average used pair. I'll probably just go for a black leather headband vintage pair if that's the case.
  18. I would like to think that I inspired that outburst reksy

    RS1's?

yes, it's the brow headband that I forgot about. christ, this isn't going to be cheap.

    RS1's?

one last question, if I'm going to buy a pair of vintage RS1's, how do I identify a vintage pair? Are they with out serial numbers or am I looking for a pair below a certain serial?
  21. Chekhonte

    RS1's?

oh crud, thanks for clearing that up. Maybe I'll try and hold out for a pair of vintage ones. I may try my luck with a WTB here and at the other place and see if I can land a decent deal on them. My luck has been running high the past couple of days so let's see if it holds out.
  22. jinp you have a PM

    RS1's?

I'm probably not going to try and find a vintage pair. They are either way over priced or gone in minutes. I also don't want to risk a short in the Y connector. I've had three pairs of grado's and friends that have had 2 pair. Out of those 5, 2 of the Y connectors have had a short in them. Thems ain't good odds. It's good to know that you didn't notice that great of a difference between the old and new Rs1's. I don't have great ears so I'm sure that I wouldn't notice much of a difference either.

Is that an alert like in metal gear?
