  1. No sonic difference except the normal difference in the output levels of the two types. The RCA input is just the - side of the amp grounded so half the output level of the XLR input all things being equal.
  2. That could be a plan.
  3. The ESP950 is indeed more neutral and that's why I always rank them above any Lambda. The bass is leaner but it also lacks the bass boom all Lambdas have.
  4. A hammer is more my style...
  5. Went to work. Got harassed by one of my friends about joining him on a work trip to Frankfurt next week since he doesn't want to go alone. Told him time and again that I don't have time to go drinking for 4 days in Germany. Got an SMS from him saying that he had booked the flight for me so I just have to. Currently I'm debating how I should kill him...
  6. I had to fix my Van den Hul The First cable after an idiot managed to destroy one of the RCA's. While I was at it the only sane thing to do is make some cables while I was at it. The First is all carbon (no metal inside) and it was an epic pain to make sure not one of the hundreds of tiny carbon threads made contact with the other tiny carbon strands. The other cables are just old Kimber 8TC speaker cables cut up and braided.
  7. Stay safe!!
  8. Could also be a Velleman box.

    Canjam 2010.

Those would work well with my viking helmet with horns.
  10. Yeah but I'm sure the MIT magic boxes fix all that...
  11. Holy crap, somebody is trying to fill the insanity void left by SP.
  12. I've been meaning to cut back on the insanity...
  13. 50 years of being badass now...
  14. It is but most of it is intentional to make them sound airy. That's also why the chassis isn't flat.
  15. The 4070 has some slight thickness in the midrange but other then that you'd be hard pressed to know it was closed. Truly spectacular design...
  16. By putting the hand behind the speakers you are reflecting the backwave and it is messing with the sound. Even on the ported SR-007Mk2 this is still a factor.
  17. In a way yes but the key to good bass from planars is to employ an infinite baffle (or as close to it as you can with speakers) as backwave cancellation is is the big problem here.
  18. Your fine if it doesn't say "Review" in front of it. What strikes me with most of these "reviews" is the sheer lack of ability to wade through the bullshit manufacturers spew so they just copy it word for word. Other manufacturers see this and are also keen to get the rubber stamp treatment so now we have a lot of these crap reviews.
  19. KGSS with the Mk1 is awesome so the Mk2 should be great as well.
  20. Pure fucking win there.
  21. The SR-404II is supposed to be "normal" version of the LE i.e. old parts but with drivers which don't suck. As for the 202, I compared it directly against the LE off my old T2 and it was damn close. The 202 isn't as precise and a bit rough around the edges but they are an excellent bargain in my book. Couldn't have said it better. We post impressions, nothing more. Reviews in every shape and form are idiotic (with very few exceptions such as Darthnut and some of the older Stereophile headphone reviews) and often only showcase the authors lack of basic knowledge of electronics and experience with similar gear.
  22. Happy Birthday Adam!!
  23. The 404LE is to me what the SR-404 should have been all along, the marriage of the L-Signature and the LNS. This rumored SR-404II might give us that in a cheaper package which would be cool but those leather pads on the LE and the black frame are worth the price difference...
  24. I would take a HE60 over any Lambda but that doesn't change the fact that the 404LE is damn good.
