Got a package from digikey and replaced a few more blown parts in my fileserver's power supply, finally tracing the problem to the buck controller IC for the 5V rail. Good thing I ordered some replacements from ON semi just in case... maybe in a couple days I'll actually have it back up and running.

The voice coil wire became separated from the solder post inside the middle of that nasty brown stuff... I think it's supposed to be the blue goop AKG uses, but has been burnt up or something into a thick, gummy mess (my guess is a failed recable attempt by a previous owner prior to sending them to Alex, since the posts on both drivers are shifted from the plastic softening). The trick was getting all of that shit off the wire without damaging it.

I'm a Lain collector, and I counted wrong, I forgot about the cheap set that I use for actual watching, so this will be the sixth boxset I have. I already have the limited edition artbox (signed by Ueda and ABe), metal lunchbox boxset, laser engraved Paul Champagne metal artbox, Rondo Robe Selection boxset (R2), and the previously forgotten Geneon signature series boxset. There's still several more that I eventually want to get as well.

Since one can obviously never have enough, I'm getting a fifth boxset for Serial Experiments: Lain.
