nnotis - why don't you save yourself the trouble of designing your own cable and just buy a Stefan AudioArt cable instead? Then you can send it to Tyll for testing. James might be so grateful that you stopped riding his ass and finally coughed up, he might even give you a discount.
hmm, can't access the link - oh well. i also like the he-6 and would take it over the audeze phones i've heard.
edit: the link is working now. can't say that i like the new designs but hifiman isn't synonymous with style.
Descriptions from those who haven't connected with the HD800 often refer to a certain sterile and distant presentation, that treble peak and lean bass. I think I'm also one of those people, and my source material tends to be pretty well recorded stuff.
Sorry, I was replying to wink. I've heard the HD800 out of different rigs and there's no denying its technical capabilities. Maybe I just prefer a more coloured sound.
Well Tyll, you did the headphone community a great service by reviewing the craptastic Ultrasone Edition 10, and they were kind of a big deal. How bad could these be?
Oops! Just noticed skullguise's post. So yeah, what he said.
I haven't been around this scene long enough to know what head-fi was like "back in the day" but it's a headphone hype-mart now and Jude's video previews are as critical as a late night tv advertisement with similar production values.
i'm amazed that currawong doesn't get paid. what's he think he's doing over there - community service? there's gotta be some perks associated with the gig.
