  1. I had the Yamaha PX-2 serviced yesterday by a great guy just north of Orlando strangely about 20 minutes from JH Audio. The linear tracking was sticking from time to time so I drove it up and he did same day service! While this is probably not the norm it was greatly appreciated. He pretty much checked everything and took the linear drive apart, cleaned and lubricated the parts that require it. The linear drive operates with rollers that move along a metal surface and the prior owner greased the metal surface. Somewhat like coating the road with oil and wondering why you can't get traction. My table did not need any parts so the cost was $88 total. The table sounds very much improved with the top end way opened up. He can also do most of the work on the linear drive mechanism via mail with the customer taking out the tonearm and drive assembly. I was going to do that but I really wanted the entire table looked at and serviced if needed.
  2. I've always wanted a Nottingham and flirted with the 294 but went another way. Good luck should be a large step up from the Scout as I've always found them lacking life.

  5. In a moment of bordom I broke out the Yamaha px-2 that has been sitting in the closet for the past 2 years. Damn if this table doesn't sound great and rivals the Origin LIve. This leads me to a potential lunatic move of selling the OL table. I can get the Yammy tuned up by a guy in Orlando that would give me a good reason to hit Cigar City on the way back. The Yammy has the sticky arm drive issue but other than that it is great operationally.
