Busted. I only sell stuff on HF when I want to get market price or a little higher, that's when I have a project in mind to fund. I'm curious Nate, did you hear the JH13s?
-
Just fyi, the K1K value raised up of 100$ with the nice customs bill that I got this morning. They're in superb shape though, looks like they're almost NOS. If you're interested, discussions could be held, but I'll have to decide first if I get the JH13.

Happy birthday! Seems like you were in the Queen's shadow yesterday...

Damn it, I started exchanging emails with the JH Audio staff, I'm on a downward spiral. I'm thinking of selling all my headphone stuff and getting the JH13. Since the speaker rig has been in place, I almost never touch my home headphones, the only phones I use are the ER4P for commuting or when I want total tranquility, but while they do the job, I'm not too fond of how they sound for long periods of listening. I asked a few questions to Jaime Harvey, and it seems that the fact that I'm in Canada is not a big problem and can be dealt with pretty smoothly if I need refits. So the big question is: do I trust enough the opinion of a couple of members here to take a leap of faith and invest in a unsellable 1K$ headphone? Got some big thinking to do here...

I received the K1000 today and I have to say I'm way more impressed than I thought I would be. I've been listening to a couple of tracks out of the Trends and it's definitely a more enjoyable combo than the SRD-7 Pro/Lambda Sig. The AKG sound more natural, particularly the mids, while I've always found the Lambda Sig to sound a bit artificial. It lacks a little bit of low bass like I expected, but bass quantity in general is certainly not lacking. I'll post more impressions later. P.S. How would I know if my K1000 is part of the supposed bass-heavy of bass-light batch? Serial number is 04333.

Thanks, I think I'm going to wait until I find a better deal. I had already contacted the guy on Canuck Audio Mart, but he won't ship and driving from here to Toronto isn't exactly a little promenade. It's not like I really need a DAC anyway, the Denon I have right now does the job, but I'm curious at trying other budget vintage options.

Any opinions on Adcom GDA-600? I think there's a person or two here with one if I remember well, and its got excellent reviews on audioreview.com and at a couple of other places. I could get a local deal at 275$CAD for an almost NIB one, I was wondering if it's worth it for this DAC. I'm scared of entering the whole "vintage DAC" scene, it's scary how often some people here change DACs.

I believe there's been a few Vancouver meets in the past. The best way to get a meet running is to organize it yourself, because there's usually a lot of talking in meet threads, but not much action taken.

Posted on HF for more visibility, but you never know, there might be some lost Montrealers here. Hey guys, It's been a while since our last meet so I thought it would be cool to put something up. Beginning of November would a good time to hold the meet as far as I'm concerned, one of these dates ideally: Saturday Nov. 7 Sunday Nov. 8 Saturday Nov. 14 Sunday Nov. 15 I can host the meet at my apartment in the Cote-des-Neiges neighborhood, I've got plenty of space. Here's a list of stuff I will (most likely) have at the time of the meet: Phones -------- Stax Lambda Signature AKG K1000 Speakers ---------- Quad 11L active Amps ------ Trends TA-10 Stax SRD-7 Pro Sources --------- Denon DA-500 Squeezebox 3 So, who's interested? Which date would you prefer? What equipment would you bring?
-
I did find this review, but I'm not familiar with the reviewer. He says some resistors should be placed on the outputs to be used with the K1000 because the TA-10 is a tripath amp, any opinion on that?
-
Not ideal, I know, but for now yes.

AKG K1000, first essay with a non-electrostat in a good while. I heard them at a meet some time ago and liked them, but that was before I heard the O2 and also before I started getting into speakers. I'm not too satisfied with the Lambda Sigs right now as my main phones so it might be a good alternative.

This and One Love are two of my favorite "cheer up" songs. I like to play folk music also when I feel down, mostly stuff in French probably unknown to all of you.

I'm shopping around for a pair of speaker stands to hold my Quad 11L and I've read conflicting opinions regarding which material is better, so I'm wondering what you guys think? Does it make a noticeable difference? For what it's worth, I'm looking for something around 30 inches, with a budget of 100-120$, so feel free to shoot recommendations.

Did anyone write a comparison between JH13 and O2mk1 yet? I've been searching a bit and didn't find anything reliable.

The easiest way for a couple of revolving-door members here would be to use Twitter...
-
x4 The only thing keeping me from ordering a pair is the fact that I'm in Canada and dealing with all the apparently necessary back-and-forth with JH Audio seems like a big PITA.
-
I hope you didn't forget the early classics in French from her "vintage" period. Have a good meet guys!

Yes, there's plenty of info on the MSI Wind forums. I did the "vanilla" install using Chameleon2 bootloader. You can probably do something similar on your Toshiba. Thanks for the Gmail suggestion, I'll try that.
