  1. . I'm back on earth again, but Stax 2050 + Sigma 11 is still on top. After a little comparison today, I found SR225 to be more or less redundant. They was mostly bought to play stuff like Meatloafs Bat out of Hell, Marillion etc which is almost boring on DT880. I can not see that the Grados do that anything better than the Stax, but I'll wait on the HD 414 pads before I make a final decision. As for the DT880 I'm still undecided, they have a more distant presentation than the Stax. If I need that I don't know yet. After a listen to the opera Boris Godunov I think the Stax are fully able to cope with the opening. They where not before the power supply upgrade. I guess this means that I have to go the O2 road.
  2. This is a public service annoncement: Calling all owners of SRM-252. Please upgrade your power supply to Sigma 11 or similar. It is unfuckingbelievable. That was a public service annoncement to owners of SRM-252. Ok, I'm not neutral tonight since I finshed my Sigma 11 today. But the Stax 2050 set takes a giant leap up the sq ladder with a good power supply. When I get to myself again I gonna listen to DT880/SR225 on Aria again to get a sanity check, but for now I'm up among the stars.
  3. doesn't like beer
  4. By all means it is more problematic to travel with kids than without. But kids are no reason to sit at home and feel sorry for yourself either. And with kids you see things you never have seen before, did you for instance know that there is a playground almost right beside the Charles Bridge on the western bank? I did not until last year (which was the third time in Prague). On the other hand there was no late night beer drinking the last time either.
  5. Linux, Mac and Windows user (in prefered order). I guess I would give up internet without Opera. (but then I have used Opera since I switched from Mosaic and that is a long time ago).
  6. There is no reason to wait too long, you just have to prepare your self and your son a little. Here is my short guide about traveling with kids: As for the kids - talk a little with them so they want to go and let them take part in the planning. Read about what they will see, look up stuff on the internet. Adults must accept that kids gets bored after a while when shopping, looking at museums or walking in cities etc. So slow down. Use parks, playgrounds, cafes and whatever that can break up a long session. Be prepared to drop things on the to do/see list. Depending on sleeping patterns that may be the most difficult part with small children as it might be is boring to go back to the hotel or apartment by 8 pm. Either travel with someone that can take turns babysitting or buy a couple of beers and bring a book or two. We had a very nice trip to Prague last year, both our kids (4 & 6 now) still talks about it.
  7. Gonna have about 3 weeks in July and early August. Only thing planned is visiting my family in the middle of Norway. Both my sister and her husband is turning 40 this year so they are throwing a garden party. In late September I will go hunting for a week as usual.

    jinp6301 is 21!

Happy Birthday!!! Don't do anything I wouldn't do.
  9. Just finished a book by a Norwegian who spent 5 years as a paratrooper in the French Foreign Legion (Not available in English as far as I know) . Currently reading: The Hobbit (aloud for my son and myself) and Toni Morrison - Paradise
  10. In Oslo I would recommend a Chinese resturant simply called Dinner. Great for both business and pleasure. More expensive than the average Chinese resurant, but it is well worth it.
  11. Two sets of *very* yellow HD 414 pads for my SR 225. It will be one ugly headphone, but hopefully comfort will be up and the highs a bit down.
  12. USB 2.0 isn't always USB 2.0 as there is Full speed and Hi Speed modes. I quote: "USB 1.1 allowed a maximum transfer rate of 12Mbits/second. It is now obsolete, but both of its speeds (1.5Mbps & 12Mbps) are being adopted into USB 2.0, and they are now called Original USB officially. Though some manufacturers label their products Full-Speed USB. Note that this seems a bit deceptive as it's easy to mistake Full-Speed for Hi-Speed. You won't be fooled from now on as you now aware that Full Speed USB is only 12Mbits/second where Hi-Speed USB mode is capable of a much faster 480Mbits/second." from http://www.everythingusb.com/usb2/faq.htm But 12 Mb/s is plenty for 2 ch. audio.
  13. The best of luck to your wife and you

  16. Parts for a couple of Sigma 11 and Sigma 22 power supplies, sans cases and transfomerers. Ordered on Sunday, got last parcel in mail today. (3 and 4 days from USA(CA & TX) to Oslo is very good in my opinion). If there ever will be a (working) power supply remains to be seen. I have more thumbs than I should ...
  17. Done with the operation yesterday. It went very smooth, I was a sleep during the operation, so I didn't feel, hear or see anything. All in all it was done in 5 and a half hour from I left home till I was back. This is how my foot looks now: I shall do nothing for about a week, then I can start to work again, but have to wear cast for 6 weeks all in all. According to the doctor there is some discussion if this should be operated or not. In Norway they usually operates cases like mine as they have some indications that the end result is better. Last day I have been sleeping for most of the time.
  18. Wouldn't be possible to find or make a script or something that converts from ALAC to FLAC all by itself? (this is sort of the default Linux user response to that sort of problems).
  19. Welcome to the land of the PICO Fixed it for you. But honestly, the Pico is good.
  20. :prettyprincess: Happy birthday!
  21. If Bootcamp is a bootloader, then it would be LILO or GRUB.

  23. I dearly miss my previous Thinkpads, but whatever OS you choose more RAM would do you good. I would think those hi-res images is quite big in memory and compared to disk swapping every processor is fast.
  24. Thanks again. So far it has not been very painful (no need for painkillers at all), but from what the doctor said I guess the first few days after the operation might be a little worse.
  25. Thanks I intend to follow the doctors orders and do the required training when it is time for that. But I must admit that it felt bad to get the "verdict" yesterday.
