  1. Yes, something like that
  2. cool. Another neat little platform is the NXP mbed:
  3. Yeah, that would be possible, but IMHO the above sound better than any Cains I've heard in the best case and is a lateral move in the worst case. Also, I am of the opinion that Lowthers work better in a front loaded, or mixed loading scenario, for the reason that recstar24 pointed out.
  4. Already have one of those mBVR is the general term.
  5. A digital magnetic inclinometer. $32 shipped from Hong Kong. http://cgi.ebay.com/Digital-Inclinometer-Angle-Protractor-Meter-Gauge-360-/190508634954?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c5b33134a#ht_3679wt_974
  6. The whole horn / transmission line concept is just beyond me learning, without a lot of trial and error. As far as regular box speakers, don't be so hard on yourself, I think one can do better than a lot of people in terms of design.
  7. I do have a spare room above the listening room, and now that you mention it it might provide the proper frequency to cancel out snoring
  8. After Al's cocktail above, namely the Crimson Slipper (nice! Different than what i proposed, but very nice! I think I prefer the Tequila-Campari though, and really want to try it with an Anjeo) I went with: Monte Carlo Cocktail 2 oz rye 0.5 oz Benedictine 2 dashes angostura Stir with ice and serve. I think I prefer this to the Old Pal. I think I just really like Benedictine!
  9. Agreed. I'd like to do a front loaded, or more likely a front AND rear loaded design, which has implications on the TS parameters of the driver I'd need. I'd like to keep the kids hands away from the driver and address dispersion and WAF. I think you might have an idea of the designs I'm considering, but want to talk with the expert before I spill the beans
  10. Agreed! I have a slot open to talk with him on Thursday. Oh and yeah, that one has my name on it already
  11. I've had my fill of the 5" size, I think bigger is better here, after playing with the Jordan and Fostex drivers. As for the treble, that depends on the enclosure, i.e. Front- or back-loaded designs, etc. I think I can work around that The DX4 looks like a compromise between the double digit DX and say a PM2A, which is why I chose it.
  12. Old Pal 1 oz rye 1 oz Campari 1 oz French vermouth (Blanc) Stir!
  13. I'm not sure at this point. I've come to the end of a journey that says that DIY isn't the end-all-be-all in this hobby. There is a lot going for many (well, not many ... relatively few) commercial designs out there. Also, it's fun to own one-off-designs and first-run items by first-rate designers, something like this would be too cool to pass up (eyes Al's Unnecessary Complex 300B and half of Kevin Gilmore's house) I will say that I'll leave the enclosure design to the pros on this one, having done it "all" myself on more than a few occasions... I reserve the right to employ a misplaced Alaskan as well.
  14. I think it's quite nuts. However, no crossover needed and only a single driver? yeah, that helps a bit...... Did you use the "doorknob" phase plug, and any additional modifications to the drivers?
  15. Long story short, I'm thinking about completely overhauling my speaker rig. I'm going to do something I haven't really done before: work back from the transducers. I've decided on a pair of Lowther DX4 drivers. More data. Everything else is up for debate. Opinions? Enablers, start enabling!
  16. I think you had the right idea, and yeah the question mark would have helped a bit Many people are unwilling to accept anything that isn't right out of a certain canon, including things like cadenza choice... Those people are annoying, so just ignore them and listen to the sweet, sweet music. It's not what's on the piece of paper or a simulation that's important it's what the artist chooses to do!
  17. I have tried 45%. I'm not going to reuse from Forgotten, as if the drink is in two places it's probably worth having twice. That being said, I am free to take liberties in this case ifthe mood strikes Al, yeah that looks nice! The Campari-Rum and Campari-Tequila interactions do indeed work. I'll give that one a go!
  18. That's a yummy one Jim. It might be fun to try a blood orange... Goes with the name at least. Getting there on Anvil and having a lot of fun
  19. Fourth Degree Cocktail 3/4 oz gin 3/4 oz Italian vermouth 3/4 oz French vermouth 1/2 tsp absinthe Stir and serve with a lemon twist! I'm really liking Plymouth, it's going to stay alongside the Tanq.
  20. Continuing with Anvil.... Darb Cocktail 2/3 oz Plymouth gin 2/3 oz Dolin Blanc 2/3 oz R&W Apricot Orchard liqueur 1/4 tsp lemon juice Stir and strain.
  21. Both are nice. I bet the Casa Noble Anjeo would be even better. In the second, believe it or not the rum takes a back seat compared to the other items, but it works to balance out the forward rum. Try them in small amounts
  22. Satan's Whiskers (Curled) Savoy 1/2 oz Carpano Antica 1/2 oz Dolin Blanc 1/2 oz Plymouth Gin 1/2 oz Orange Juice 1/4 oz Cointreau 1/8 oz Stirring's Blood Orange Bitters Shake well and strain into cocktail glass.
  23. Continuing with Anvil... a Plymouth, Carpano Antica and Campari Negroni. Nice! Next, this... with equal parts. Don't tell Duggeh:
  24. I think they will grow on you
  25. After the Jasmine, which contains gin, Campari, Cointreau, and lemon and being underwhelmed I tried a slight twist. (Not At All A) Jasmine 1.5 oz Reposado Tequila 0.75 oz lime juice 0.5 tbsp Cointreau 0.5 tbsp Campari Shake with ice and double strain. I think it's nice. Maybe add a bit of simple syrup depending on your preferences. Edit: nah, it's just right
