  1. Thanks guys. Another question, would something like an Analog Devices ADXL335 be sensitive enough to help tune a motor to minimum vibration?
  2. Anyone in the US happen to have a strobe I could borrow for a while? I cobbled together a DIY one but would like something to compare to. I should have both 33 and 45 patterns at 60Hz on the Cardas test LP, so just need the blinking blinker.
  3. Chris, those parts are made by FCI. Search for BergStik. They are rather nice board to board connectors. Actually, what is hanging on the USB is a cheap USB serial uart bridge, based on the CP210x. You can get them on eBay for a few dollars. It makes for a nice multiplatform software option, as you can get Mac, Linux and even .NET support. There is a three wire connection to an Atmel microprocessor. Well, now I can change he phase of the outputs via software. To Now the question is how to convert a frequency of the output sine wave to rotational frequency of the platter. That seems to need some maths. Oh and here is the four pin DIN cable that has way more parts to assemble then it needs. It's kinda nice spring loaded mechanism when it's all said and done. It will interface directly with the connector on my Rega turntable. Crazy Brits.
  4. Cool, so are the ferrite beads needed, or have you tried to remove them?
  5. Ok, added holes and screws. Next need to make a cable, perform some turntable modifications and then the software side of the project.
  6. They cause you to sprout hair and wear a speedo?
  7. Thats the middle setting 78 = 45 + 33? Not really.
  8. Just a few more holes here and there - need a fuse holder on the rear panel, then four PCB mounting screws and the transformer - hoping to get the mechanical stuff done during the three-day weekend!
  9. Higuchi is where I got both my Grand Seikos. I got the same random Japanese handicrafts as well
  10. The gate stopper will form a low pass filter with the mosfet input capacitance, which changes with the number of paralleled devices. Since this value differs between n and p channel values, the goal would be to pick a frequency and then calculate different gate stopper values for p and n ch devices. Gate stopper should slow things down enough to be sufficient.
  11. 1K gate stopper is probably too high. Can you cut that in half? You might read through this paper: http://www.cordellaudio.com/papers/MOSFET_Power_Amp.pdf
  12. For $5 we will tell you.
  13. A vacuum tube?
  14. Is that some new SI unit of measurement? We Americans don't always get the memo on what the rest of the world is doing.
  15. Yeah, that was done that way by the designer on purpose. Nothing to add yet - how many output devices are you using?
  16. 3V, in most cases.
  17. If you have plated through vias it's possible to use solder paste then heat from the bottom with a iron. It's not the best option though.
  18. Ditch the ESS. Feels like lipstick on a pig.
  19. Heh, I even have the heatsinks. What is so appealing about this design, anyways? I think 100 would be a good start, yeah.
  20. I have had this fault actually happen and it was protected by a ground loop breaker using a thermistor and half of a bridge. See the arrangement in the F5 Turbo First Watt project.
  21. The fuse should calculated as follows: Total VA transformer rating divided by line voltage times 133%. In rush configuration should be whatever is necessary to make this value work in practice, given the capacitance in the power supply. This might be a thermistor or may need to be a relay switching a resistor.
  22. Well, the Sunfire turned out to be a great choice, especially when I found the dreaded LFE+MAIN setting on my receiver. I also was rather impressed with the Best Buy Magnolia "Design Center" which there is one in Austin - which happens to be the closest to my house. I ended up with one of these for center. Need to re-Audessy things once we get some furniture moved around and then looking forward to the final product.
  23. Now you just need a second on the other side of the board
  24. Poke
